Use your good. honest local independent garage, if you have to bear the cost yourself, not the greedy dealer!
You can take your car to ANY VAT registered garage for work to be done.

Yours is obviously much newer than the rest of ours, so perhaps they are slightly different now, just like the Mk2 dials etc are different to the Mk1 172.

Are you sure that the dials in the car you are buying are different to the standard ones?
I cant imagine someone taking out the glass etc just to change over the surrounding bit of trim, which I think is really plastic, finished to look like brushed aluminium or whatever it is supposed...

Have you got / can you borrow a digital camera? If so, why not go along to your dealer and take a close-up pic of your dials and post it here or e-mail it to someone who can display it, so that everyone knows what you are talking about. Maybe there are others with the same dials.
