miltage2 I am not sure exactly about the seat belt pre-tensioners, but I think it is something to do with tiny explosions or something like that, which causes the tightening of the seat belts, to hold you very firmly in your seat in the case of sudden impact. So I dont think they will work...

James You might have got off with just a warning had you not given the policeman a bit of cheek, which probably aggravated him. It is best to get out of your car and stand beside him, especially if you are not very tall, as he might then take pity on you and say "on you go son"! Apparently...
