Clutches are heavy, squeaky, high biting on them. My trophy has a high biting point but doesn't sound as abrupt as yours. Also it won't be £800 changing the clutch. Get a clutch and cable from ecp cheap and then just have someone do the labour on it.

So the rear dampers on my trophy went. Car drove like a pig and felt like the rear was detached from the car. Purchased a new set and fitted them today. Massive difference and she's driving even better than before:)
Very easy to fit and well worth it (apart from the price of the Sachs dampers!)

It will need to be a very good one for that money. Wouldn't necessarily say a new oe exhaust is a good thing. They seem to rot to pieces eventually. I'd be looking at close to 2k for it. Good luck. Main thing is the belts, engine...
