No it shouldn't do because Sony have the option in the OS to install a secondary system onto the HDD. The warranty will be OK and I'll be able to get extra functionality from my PS3 that will help me avoid having to buy a media server for the TV.

It'll not break from simply installing a second OS, the system supports installing Linux so fingers crossed all should be ok. If all goes wrong then a HDD format will fix it.

I'm planning on installing one of the above Linux OS onto my PS3 so that I can use Firefox and VLC on my TV. Of the two which is the best version to use? Also can Linux network ok with my iMac for sharing files? Thanks

You do not need to have different online accounts but it does give access to other regional servers for demos etc. You can do the same thing on the 360 to access the US demos and content.

Definately quieter than the 360 but not silent. I've activated two more accounts, one for the US and one for Hong Kong. Lots more content and demos are now available for download from those regions Really do like this console.

If it was one or the other then the obvious choice for gaming is the 360 because it has alot more games available for it and over the next 10 months I do not anticipate many PS3 exclusive titles will become available.

My local Tesco have started selling the PS3 today but I've reserved one at Virgin and will wait till tomorrow to buy it.

Why queue for one for 2 days when youi can simply walk instore and pre-order one still for tomorrow. Most stores local to me are still able to accept orders.

There are 220,000 units available in the UK on launch day which is significantly more than other console launches so I do not think people will struggle to buy one, especially as Sony are missing out on the usual Christmas market.
