Why dont the 172 owners put some fake 1.2 badges on their cars. When passing other cars like Willys, 206 GTis, Pugs etc they will be posting messages saying that they have been whooped by a 1.2 Clio!
Twoslowforushere, I know the A198 which runs from Longniddry along the coast road to Aberlady and Gullane past Gosford House which is bordered by the walls that Ben was talking about. Lots of nice bends if you like that sort of thing.
All of the roads in this area were recently re-surfaced...
Shut up twoslow! I live near Edinburgh and there are LOADS of sporty cars everywhere, especially along the Edinburgh by-pass, the A1 and the rest of the local roads. Every time I am out and about there are always a few Elises, TVRs, fast Audis, M3s, CTRs, TTs, Pugs, even Ferraris and...

Maybe it wasnt really a GTi, but had stuck the GTi badge on himself, just like someone on one of the messages here had stuck a sport badge on their 1.2 trying to imitate a 172!
Think you will find that independent garages are well used to working on ALL makes of car and it might be worth asking their views? Half the hourly labour charge too!
This is probably the reason why folk in Novas, Saxos and Fiestas think they have thrashed 172s, because of pretenders who stick a sport badge on their cars!
How can you tell whether the engine in the 16v is 2.0 or 1.6? Is it stamped anywhere on the engine or is this a daft question? Does the car have only a 16v badge on it? If so, maybe the guy is right about the 2.0 engine size!
I would have thought a touch of neat shampoo or a small amount of washing up liquid on a cotton wool bud would get rid of the polish on the chipped area. Maybe a tiny amount of turps would also work, but make sure that you wash over it afterwards and dry the area thoroughly before using your...
