My recess was big enough but the whole thing was just to long.I was lucky in one way as I took the whole out to do it,so I noticed it straight away,I think it would be more difficult to pick up if done in situ.

Post No 7,you can see the problem,it won't tighten together as the nut is touching the alloy plate.
Forget all that now then.
Chrsipy,this is what I had to do,it was the only thing I could think it could be as I had tried everything else.Phew I did the right...

I had the same problem as this,when I tried to tighten it all up you can see where the nut is pressing into the alloy as in one of the pic's on here.I resorted to grinding the alloy tube down this did the job.Yes I did put it together as it came and it just would...

Andrew,I see what you mean now after looking that picture.The bracket had been undone on one side for us to do some work,yes so looks like it's not in the housing.
It is an off the shelf Reverie carbon air box,the back box was not fabricated but we did have to wait for it as they are made in batches and when we wanted ours they had non.
Very much so yes,an old 172 cup engine that has been stood for a year in the corner covered in dust and s**t,oil change and in thats it.
Low down torque is a lot to do with 100mm extentions so I am told.
At least we have now established that there is not alot to choose between them,and that it is just down to preferences and tuning,so thats a start.I think they look very neat and tidy plus you have the choice to get longer inlets to fit under the bonnet.
