as dave has said mate, either take the valver furter, or sell it & buy a faster car.
have you considered the 2.0 route for the valver ?
and then add to that, cams, chip etc.
i thought about modding my 16v (as its standard) but then i thought ill buy a faster car any way.
if you leave the outside pretty standard (may be lower it a bit) keep the original wheels etc,
and mod the engine then i reckon that will be along the rights lines of what you want to achieve. As it will still look standard but go faster !
personally id say go for it mate !
found the yellow on i was on about.

what colour is the dot on the dip stick, if its a valver it will be white or black,
a williams had a blue dot.
(however i have heard that some blue ones found their way on to valvers !)
v6 all the way, they have soo much presence on the road !
(something which a 182 just doesnt have, sorry 182 people)
plus as they have already lost a fair bit of money, they wont depreciate much more, unlike the 182 (unless you can get a 182 for a decent price)
if you can get a ph2 for 1500.00 chances are it will be as ropey as f**k.
if the jobs have been done recently then it will deffo be worth considering, i will reply more mate when i get chance (im at work) or wait till one of the valver experts get on here.
I do kind of agree with you mate, its just that most people on here, seem to bang on about how legendary one is & nothing can touch it etc.
I guess it just depends on who has read the thread at the time, as to what response you get from people.
One thing i will say is that i wouldnt sell my 16v...
