No flush, just get it nice and hot before emptying. You can buy cheap "running in oil" and then fill it up with that, leave it running for half hour and remove it if you're really that worried about flushing it through.

You can test all lights are functioning by holding down the button on the end of the stalk, (the one that changes the dash reading between MPG etc) for 5 seconds, before turning the key to point 2.
