not in English but lap times at the end....
Ive been wondering how the new ST200 would compare on track to the clio trophy, I knew the regular ST was a little way behind but I thought the 200 might be better.
By the way, I'm not putting the fiesta down, its really great, better than the clio...
as I said, video is useless without knowing if the cars are standard or not, we do know this clio 200 edc Is standard because it says so in the description.
are both of those cars standard ?
strange video anyway, the new clio comes back really strong again after a while, but then drops rapidly back, its not very convincing.
Also the new clio in the video isn't a trophy, I'm sure you knew that.
, I can show you video of an old mgzs 180 beating...
hah brilliant, mine was fitted by Reyland motorsport at Birmingham, had custom 3 inch turbo back exhaust, back draft hybrid turbo etc.
heres mine, was a track toy.
what vag engine you running, I had a 1.8t transplant into an mgzs 180, running 301 bhp and 340 ftlb, car was under a ton with roll cage etc, was very very quick
that means nothing with out times and most importantly terminal speeds, Ive beaten all sorts of more powerful cars at santa pod, but you could still tell they had quicker cars because their terminal speeds were higher.
feeling bad for St owners was just a joke in my first post, don't take it seriously, I was relating solely to the fiestas poor tuning potential, I don't feel bad for them, they all drive a great car, I know exactly how good they are, I had 2 extended test drives and came within an inch of...
the turbo isn't the only engine change to make the extra 20hp and the turbo is only very slightly different, it also has a free flowing exhaust compared to the 200 edc and a redesigned induction set up.
You can easily get more than 220 bhp by remapping a 200 edc, so I think the engines have good...
The ST Is not better in every area, but it is cheaper and it is great fun, and its manual if you must have that.
If those are your priorities then yes its better, and obviously many people feel that way, that's why they are so common.
The trophy is faster in a straight line, infact its faster...
I guess that depends who you use to remap your car,
yes I agree, the 182 would go backwards very quickly, but I think he is saying the 182 feels more fun when your in the mood, again that's a personal thing though, depending on the individual and what he calls fun, there is not one sweeping...
fair enough we all look for different things in a car, personally i found the Trophy more capable than the Fiesta and it felt more special, maybe not quite as much fun ultimately.
I don't really understand the Gearbox thing, I loved the Trophy gearbox instantly, after going up through the gears...
Up until now nobody has been able to crack the ecu to remap a new trophy but this firm have done it now, so it will be common place soon enough.

Results on an other wise...
what the car can get and what people are getting could be 2 very different things, lol.
I only drive my trophy infrequently, so each time I do mpg is not even considered....I drive it for fun.

if performance doesn't matter why even buy any hot hatch, train to become an experienced driver and buy the slower car then, it will save you a fortune.!
Some people like to say performance doesn't matter, ( usually the ones who own cars with less of it, lol)but you cant generalise like that...
I agree that renault have alienated many of their core fans, but I would like to think they would be loyal enough to at least try the car for themselves before judging them.
I also agree that ford " got it ", the daft thing is the Trophy is comfortably ahead or better in every aspect of...
Happy would be an understatement, for me personally, I feel its so far ahead of the fiesta st I almost brought.
There's always folk jumping on the band wagon and saying the clio is spoilt by its gear box, but it seems like some people are actually ignoring the negative press of the 200 , and...
i tried the launch control for the first time last night.......its pretty brutal isnt it.!
imo the gearbox is superb, i love it ...and the trophy is a proper fast little car. I guess a trophy is really all about handling and corners but make no mistake, it can more than hold its own in a...
turboing it will make it even more unreliable.
wait a year and buy a 200 edc, if by some chance you dont think its quick enough, remap it, then it will be.
cant say i regularly laugh out loud but every drive is just great fun.
I did laugh out loud last saturday, a scirocco "R" , trying to climb into my boot along a national speed limit dual carriageway, so at the next traffic lights, i pulled in to the left lane, and he went along side into the...
ive said it before, but i test drove fiesta st twice and for instant fun factor it was incredible, it communicated everything it was doing brilliantly, so you can just get in and drive it hard straight away, but i found when i pushed it hard, it just wasnt quite as capable as the instant fun...
the interior is actually one of the few things magazine reviews comment negatively about the fiesta st, they say its dated and the dashboard very cluttered with buttons, and it is, the dashboard has hundreds of tiny buttons, there's one for every function imaginable, the more modern approach is...
Go test drive one before deciding based upon other peoples opinions.
I was ready to sign on the dotted line for a fiesta st based on magazine reviews and test drives, at the last minute i tried a 220 trophy and straight away i knew i wasnt having a fiesta anymore, the clio is faster in a...
i only live at j27!.
I test drove a clio trophy at renault nottingham, they have an rs specialist there called Alex, hes about 7 foot tall ,lol, really nice chap, he sold me my car.
Phone up and ask for Alex, tell him you want to test drive a clio trophy, they had a red / purplish colour one in...
i agree, i think the gear box, flappy paddles in race mode actually adds to the experience, feels like a race car instead of the usual manual shift.
I assume you know you can turn stop/ start off down by the steering wheel, its the first thing i do usually.
It does build speed quickly, i was...
