Just for comparison I got my 182 for £1,850 with 109k miles and 2 years left on the cambelt. It's been spot on... definitely worth shopping around! If the dealer is adamant on £1.6k then personally I'd walk away from that one.

Welcome mate. That sounds like a £1,200 172 to me... the steering wheel can be sorted from guys on here, re-furbs look really, really good. If you're doing belts make sure you go to a specialist. Clutches are always stiff, that's normal.

Mate bought this on the £24.99 deal... done a system check said everything was okay. He paid, clicked install. Halfway through says 'Sorry Windows 8 cannot be installed on this system' and it cancelled itself without any explanation! Tried again, same thing. His computer is only 2 years old btw...

Could it be worth taking the wheel off and making sure all the connections are okay?

Yeah as said with that mileage, 2 years is the normal gap for a service on a Clio so it's not a major risk you'd be taking at all really!
