Typically found the tools I had didn't go to a big enough size, so just used my "small fingers" lol and got the wires all under there eventually! Took a bit of time though and now it's dark... crimping and connecting up tomorrow me thinks!
Probably 4/10...
Had two now and unfortunately both revealed faults within just a couple of weeks of ownership. First one had manifold to CAT ring break, lambda sensor fail, exhaust needing replacement due to failing emissions on MOT, and occasionally failed to turn on (never found out why!)...
Sounds like exactly what happened to me in my CRX years ago... cost me £900 to put right, and tbh, it never was 'right' again. Then I sold it for £850! :dead: depending on how much your car is worth, break it imo.
Thanks... if my brakes are coming on straight away though, I take it there's no point in doing it? Or is it worth a reset just in case. Like ye olde faithful 'on and off again' which we use a million times a day at work.
Where is this guide? Just gone through all 10 pages of the guides and can't find it? Or am I just blind... I'm getting this too and I don't like lights on the dash! :(
 I did actually... and it worked. But you know, maybe after an extended period of time it will be different lol. What do I need to get all the panels off to get my amp wires through to the boot, is it star/torx?
Just an update... got out there today and connected the yellow lead to my battery, and pulled through my amp power lead at the same time (to be used at a later date) also found an earth point on a bolt just above the engine pull? I think it will be okay, might do that again and extend the cable...
At the end of the day it's a choice of either waiting for the right buyer, which could take a while... took me 3 years to sell my CRX!
Or, the price is too high.
Depends how quickly you want rid really!
Always check http://quidco.com for insurance deals. I'm with Aviva paying £390 on my 182... got 20% off for being a new customer, another 20% for doing everything online, and £80 cashback through Quidco, happy days! Also, put your mum on your insurance, I did and it went down by £70.
Only been driving mine for a week now, around town only, and I'm getting 24mpg I want to push it up to 25mpg lol but it keeps dipping into 23.8/9 lol :(
Yes it's strange it works without the ground but this headunit has followed me to a few different cars now and the majority of the time, it's worked without earth (I have actually earthed it, but just for testing purposes) I found the manual online so have uploaded the wiring diagram... I think...
Actually yeah that rings a bell, I think it's the thicker black wire that needs earthing? Would that actually effect it's capability of remembering settings though, or is it just how to wire it up properly... oh and yes you're right it's a 4x60w CDA-7893R Alpine unit, very old!
Thanks very much...
I used to work for Globeaid... I guess things got cheaper! They were thinking of bringing in a cheaper Dell version rather than the Panasonic Toughbooks just as I was leaving.
Okay I shall try that, thanks.
Some more detailed pictures and I've drawn how it's set up to make it easier...
Also I found another one in my wire box! It's wired completely differently but unfortunately it also doesn't remember my settings...
I don't really care about having it work when the car's off, so can I do anything to get it working with what I've got? Or do I need another set of wires to get it working properly?
Sorry if I sound dumb but the red wire is going into the yellow wire... so if you took it out, you have no where else to put it other than back into the yellow one again.
Had this problem before with different cars, I seemed to remember it was a case of changing the red and yellow wires over. However the red seems to go into the yellow wire with this setup!? So I'm a bit stumped any ideas?
Have just read through all 8 pages of this thread! But I still have a question to ask... obviously I now understand why the cambelt job is really for specialists, however, is the aux belt (changed every 36k iirc?) also best left to the specialists? It seems to cost about an extra £100-150 on top...
