Ok so 6500rpm it is, i'll start changing there ;)
Or does it vary from clio to clio or car to car ?
What i mean is would it vary if one had filter and another exahust and filetr etc ?

How tough are the 172 gearboxes ?
And do they take a pounding ?
Or is it like a lucky dip ?
One 172 gearbox is tough and another 172 one is not ?
And what miles have you guys got on your cars ?
And what gearbox are you's on ?

When do you's guys think the optimum time to change gear in a 172ff is when hammering it ?
At a certain Revs ? (What revs though?)
On the green shift light ?
BEFORE THE GREEN LIGHT ?
On limiter ? (or does this lose power)
Or personal choice ...
Quite mixed replies in this post.
So i take it the 172 has no chance against the CTR :(and the 182 has the edge ;)
Or maybe it all depends on driver and how hard he hammers his/her car. :)
Or when the clios 5k kick (VVTI ??) kicks in or CTR's VTEC kicks in :)
Standard 172ff alloys and not lwered as i'm aware :S
Unless last owner lowered it as i haven't in the six months i've had it.

I was just out for a wee blast in my "02" 172ff :) up a straight (private) road and back its about a mile or so long.
I went up and down for a blast a few times then headed home again. (Curious to see what i got in each gear :rolleyes: haha)
After a play about, i headed home and at the end...
Anyone help me here ?
As i don't want to take my oil pressure switch out the run a die down it for the size and lose my oil :(
And i have no thread combs for that size :(
I raced a mk2 golf gti (8v as 16v's have beesting on roof and 8v's have it sticking out wing) ;) god knows what he had under his but it went like f**k as well ?
He pee'd all over my in accelaration then at about 90 i caught up and was in line with him ;)
I thought he was a 1.8 turbo or vr6...
