Removing the handbrake completely as the cables were shot when I did the rear Calipers.
How the hell do I remove the cable where it tunnels through? It’s pissing me off.
I cut the metal end off at the caliper end, disconnected from the adjuster end and pulled the inner cable through towards...
Going to start planning the weekend soon, times leaving etc. very excite.
What time can we get into the paddock on Friday?
Do we get a garage on the Friday or sort on Saturday morning?
Right so…
I’ve managed to fix everything.
New Calipers on, new spacers on, new discs on, new pads in.
The handbrake had seized on and not being able to get my hands on new cables I’ve just removed the handbrake completely.
No need for it on track car so one less thing to go wrong.
You were...
The issue I have is I’m changing the calipers and you can see how destroyed the threads are from the issue with the old discs.
What are my options here then…
Mine does the same on track car and has done for a while.
Goes away when warm. I was worried about it to start with but hasn’t caused any issues.
I could see it being annoying if it’s your daily.
Just swapped the discs over, no problem at all…
But..
the rear wheels don’t spin freely on their own when jacked up.
Like I’m having to physically push them round. Sounds like the pads are up against the disc to tightly. No, handbrake is not on.
What did I do wrong this time? 😂
Not really mate.
The only way to get rid of that sticky stuff is to actually strip it from the plastic pieces.
Sure a few people on here have done it successfully with warm soapy water but it does involve removing the trim pieces from the car.
Get some auto finesse obliterate - the gel version.
Strips the leftover sound deadening residue with ease.
Removing Sound deadening is a boring job though.
Haven’t spoken to them but presuming they are in stock?
It shows low stock but I don’t want to be waiting 10 weeks lol.
Reckon just order them online and take it as they are in stock?
They are an absolute s**t show.
After waiting for their “technicians” to get in touch they sent me an email saying that I hadn’t fit the spacers behind the disc.
They then moved onto “oh it’s because you have a stud nut kit fitted”
What, like every other track car you supply “performance”...
I am now in an email dispute with MTEC.
They are saying they have never seen this before and have not had reports of any other failings and they are speaking with their tech team.
They are happy to send me out new discs at no cost however feel they are pushing this back on my as a fitting...
No ABS light so hopefully all good.
All the teeth looked ok on the rings.
Nice one for sorting airbag light 👍
I was under the impression that MTEC were meant to be a decent brand. Clearly not.
The bearings, bar the seal on the drivers side were actually tight as hell and smooth. I think the...
I will have to check the sensors.
I already get the service light on due to the airbags being removed.
Will it just be the service light if the abs sensors are broken aswell? Or is there any other way to tell
Ok….
So further investigation has proven a massive failure with the bearings.
Either not sent out correctly from factory or very poor quality in manufacture.
Basically, the circlip had come out from its housing (unless it was never in there from the start) which allowed the bearings to slide...
