I didn’t take the risk. I took the first lap really steady to get the glaze off them, then started pushing. I couldn’t feel the car underneath me and was getting a bit nervous 😬 As I turned on to the main straight I booted it, but the grip wasn’t there, so throttle back a little and then went...
Absolutely cream-crackered, but what a day! The weather was perfect, and out of a maximum of 65 cars allowed on the track, 25 were booked, but only 19 turned up. The poor TDO blew £6,000, and I was gutted for him.
Only 4 garages were taken up and everyone was called Jon. 😂 It was surreal to say...
They’re arguably the best you can get. Too good for Trackdays tbh. Race series tyres. I’ve got some MRF ZTRs (medium compound) about £150 a corner. I’m testing them tomorrow and hoping they’ll be spot on. I get a bit of loyalty discount on my 52s, but you’re still talking £800 for all corners.
I’ve never run AR1 tyres before, and tomorrow will be my first test of the MRFs. My friend races in TDT in a Clio 182 and uses Yokohama A050s but had AR1s on his car in the first season. He found them unsuitable for a race series, where competitors are using better tyres, like Yokohama 52/50s...
Yeah it’s spot on. The tyre wear is so even. I’ve done 5 Trackdays so far on a set of new fronts and partly worn rears. I reckon there’s another 2 left in them.
A better view of it. We did measure it a few months back but I can’t remember what the settings were 🤦🏻♂️
A couple of small jobs ticked off before tomorrow.
At the last track day, I heard something rattling around while going through corners but couldn't find anything obvious. Then the seat felt like it was moving under heavy load, which I thought was due to the Velcro on the seat pad coming loose...
Relaxing day today sorting my tools out for Mondays track day.
Took some better pics of those carriers as the last pictures looked like they were taken on a potato.
Honestly, these are as good as new now. Gave them a quick brush with ACF-50 to stop them flash rusting.
I’d love to keep the...
It’s got be a bit more scientific than guessing surely. When my other track 182 went to Rob Boston Racing for Geo setup, he advised on getting the rear beam shimmed.
Conversation went like this. “Go on pure motorsport, buy 3 of these, 3 of those. Come back and I’ll try this.”.
“Then go and do...
I also have shims, but I can't recall the exact setup - though -1.22 and -1.24 degrees sound familiar. It's not drastically different from your setup, so perhaps they were adjusted to correct it.
I'll check with my friend Dave, who set it up at Croft, to see if he remembers the details.
You...
They were off my track car, so the previous owner must have switched them over at some point. Far too good for a circuit car.
I’ve never touched the interior other than switch the belts, so I’m working my way through that.
Your car is just incredible Nick. I hate seeing pictures of it 😂
In between working, trackdays and everything else, I’ve been buying the odd used parts here and there.
I quite enjoy restoring things and spotted these caliper carrier brackets for sale from @STRBramley back in March.
They suffered the usual brake dust, rust and oily deposits but overall...
