on mine i have a whole above the amp and the sub. the sub hole will be covered with a grill of some sort and the amp hole will have perspex plastic over it which has ventilation holes. all made up should be trimming it this weekend and my install will finally be complete!

ive just built exactly the same. what do you want a port for? have you not put the sub in a box? for ventilation over the amp you could just drill holes over the wood and then carpet over it and it should be ok.

you can buy a new cd player with a steering wheel contol adapter. keep your cd changer, steering wheel controls and get an amp connected to it for your subs.
