Plans...
On Monday I was stuck in Aberdeen with work and I was bored. Had a few beers, got a kit car magazine out then this happened....
I don't know much about it. I'll update as I find things out....
I did 400 miles none stop in this from the office to Aberdeen. It gave nearly 55mpg. Awesome motorway car.
Get the odd wave from car people too! Its looks sheddy atm with no centre caps on, and marks in the dirt highlighting where it needs painting lol
Like I said I've never had any before. Anyway willing to try a different look. Will have some standard "Sytner Nottingham" (Supplying dealer for all Alpina's) ones made up too.
LOL no birch.
Just been for the rear tyres fitted. Turns out Alpina wheels have to have the tyres fitted while face done. The fitter doesn't have the gear to do this. FFS.
Have to go somewhere else tomorrow now.
I don't get why anyone would like it any other way. Pedal flat = WOT. Not pedal 50% = WOT. Makes no sense.
In my old TVR's they have huge (like really really long) travel, due to having no TC, you do everything with the pedal, having loads of travel makes this a joy.
Yes, you don't need it trying to make boost all the time.
The auto setting was the worst as the changes between a long and short throttle were a bit nonesencical esp on the motorway.
This 100%.
The RS3 was losing about £800 a month in value. This isn't losing anything. So I guess after 3 months I have technically paid off the resto....
Yeah its just deciding if I want to take the car from where it is now:
Now odd paint = £0
Paint the front and make it passable = £350
Paint nearly all of it and have it mint = £950
I'm not sure where the value is. Its turning into a bit of a restoration.
If I go:
Paint = £950
Wheels = £400...
So I've got a quote for my local matey BMW body shop for spraying these parts...
Bumper
Bonnet
Wings
Front doors
Rear doors
Both Rear quarters
£950..... Hmmmmmm.
I just drove around in comfort most of the time TBH. My Individual setting was:
Engine/Gearbox = Comfort
Suspension = Comfort
Steering = Comfort
Exhaust = Dynamic
Remember mine had the ASBO exhaust. I didn't like the steering weight changing, nor did I like the throttle sensitivity changing.
Update:
I've done 3000 miles in it so far. In that time I've killed the rear Toyo's somehow. So I'm having some Rain Sports fitted on Thurs.
MPG is good. Motorway - 51mpg. Rest of the time I'm getting 45mpg. I'm currently saving £200 a month in fuel alone over the RS3.
I've not had the front...
