save the money and enjoy the Clio for a while, then if you still have itchy feet sell up and move onto something else. Meg 250's will probably soon be within budget.
I certainly wouldn't put £5k into a 1*2 clio.
what I do (and I'm no track day expert) is arrive at track, drop pressure anywhere from 5-10 psi below normal road pressures. Go out on track for a stint, usually 15-20 minutes. Come back in and check what they have risen to while they are still warm.

Probably worth stating what year you sold said car to give an idea of how much you’ve fucked up. I sold my 205 in 2010 so it’s probably gone up nearly a grand a year.
Replaced it with a 172 that I only had a year I think I sold that in 2011 for about £2500, so their prices haven’t gone anywhere.
