No idea, I just assumed that was how it was meant to be until I got this new one.

The new Flip arrived today, as an added bonus the crease is way less prominent on the new one, it makes a huge difference when scrolling on a white background.

Can also hear mine at arms length just swinging it up and down, but it does stop when I put the camera on 2x zoom. Strange that I never noticed before now.
