Stop vibes/rattles mainly, but enhancing sound quality would be good too, I guess a reduction in road noise would also be good though, being a scooby with a straight through exhaust it's a noisy bastid.

a 12" just seems softer and more bassy to me, if that makes sense

10" tends to give a harder bass than a 12" in my experience.

+1 seemed the entertainment was just the same stuff repeated over and over, one thing I was looking forward to was the "mental Laguna" and that didn't happen, luckily I got to see the parade though as that started at the time the Laguna was meant to be on, otherwise I'd have missed it as it was...
