    as far as i can see they are ok on RS cars, the few problems they have caused (it destroyed my box, manifold and cat!) have been on non RS cars with only 3 engine mounts, not 4 like an RS

    non cup 172 for me, nearly the same inside same toys etc apart from cruise (unless u get an 04 plate) IMO the wheels are better looking on the 172 the rear looks better without the 182 wheelbarrow look! but after driving my 172 with a 182 manifold, i dunno if i could go back!!

    i think you might just been unlucky and its not actually UCH when you say the aircon stops working do you mean just the aircon or the fan? if its the fan thats not working it could be the (forgot the name of the part!!) under the scuttle pannel, comon fault. washer could just be a faulty...

    i also had a problem where when i took my foot off the acelerator the car jumped as if the engine mounts were gone/loose but they were brand new, turned out to be a shafted driveshaft (it hadnt been making any clunks or noises)

    DO NOT remove the head to helicoil it no need, my mate shot the plug from Cyl 3 (common problem) and it was done with the head in place. cambelt needs specialst tools from renault, other manufacturers make tools for other F4R's but not for the RS one

    1.2 engine swap to a 1.6.

    a mate of mine told me as soon as u insure a car as a coversion its a group 13 car minimum (may not be true though) can insure it as a kit car cheaper if over 21 i think. u will never in 1 million years do a 1.6 conversion to a mk2 ph2 for £500 lol its just as much work as doing a 172...

    both looking good! love the cold air feed in the headlight only because we know whats actually under the bonnet and its not some chav destroyed his headlight to get a cold air feed on his 1.2 lol wish i had put the 1.6 in my 1.2 back in the day like i wanted to and built something cool!!

    Hot Gearbox = no shifting. Problem?

    iirc 5th gear is the gear that causes issues when the gearbox oil is LOW so makes sence it was causing bother when it was overfilled. possibly had a n/s driveshaft (need to drain oil)

    lol aye fukin grass hanging out the bumper! whaping the bumper and rad off it tomorrow morning to have a wee look make sure its all straight. lucky it was grass and mud it hit rather than a wall/tree etc so it all looks good, subframe is untouched, slam pannel fine etc so its just a new bumper...
