But let's say the pms is the end result. Why bother messing about with the inbetweens? I know it's expensive which is why more people don't have one. But after having numerous ones prior I'd save and just buy one.

Thing is. I've had lots of different types and the pms is for me, the best. Even if you kept it in the car for twelve months and removed before selling the car. You will 1. Have the best shifter, imo 2. And sell it easily second hand.
