    Wreckfest

Bit of a bump on this thread. I've been playing through the career mode and thoroughly enjoying it. The actively encouraged driving style of punting the opposition off the track just doesn't get boring - especially when you manage to time your move and shove them into oncoming traffic and/or a...

Midlife crisis + understanding wife = New Toy

Nice - just in time for the decent weather coming in! Hope you have some decent A-roads near you to exploit it properly.

    Copart CAT B 197....

He mentioned something about allocation as well. So say you went to a Ford dealership over here, there would usually be 30+ cars there for you to wander around. Over there, there might be two or three. It seems strange that although the country borders the one where they are manufactured - that...

    Copart CAT B 197....

One of the guys in the office is from Poland and he's told me in the past just how expensive cars both new and 2nd hand can be over there. In particular, the difference between driving into Germany and buying what you're after from there instead.

    wiper arm removal

Yeah - they can be a bit tricky - usually the passenger side is the worst of all the connections. Though as mentioned, raising the wiper arm to begin makes it a lot easier - perhaps as it takes some tension off the spindle that the wiper itself fits onto. Make sure the bolts and washers have a...

PC/Console gaming achievements - any that you're particularly proud of?

I'm north of 3,000 achievements through Steam now - the majority have been worked for and required a bit of effort. Some are a joke though, requiring little more than launching the game in the first place. Others I haven't a clue how the other gamers have managed to obtain them. A slightly...

When is it time to call it a day?

Well mine is on circa 165k and will be going away for several weeks from the 25th March to get mechanical work done. The cost is daft for a 15-year-old Clio - certainly on paper, but I was upfront and honest with myself. First off, I'm the only owner of it - I know exactly what has gone on...

I ignore that - just yet more pressure to deal with. 🤣

    Assetto Corsa Competizione

It is - but from a strictly commercial perspective, that clearly doesn't work as well as an open ended/car collecting driving game. Fairplay to them to push the hardcore sim route as personally, I find it much more rewarding to play. It would just never sell as well as the likes of Forza and...

    Assetto Corsa Competizione

Some of my half-arsed attempts from earlier as I was trying to show others about ACC. Lovely grind-down of the quality through YouTube again. ;)

    Assetto Corsa Competizione

I just think its too focused. And while anyone interested in cars or racing would 'get it' as a game - it just doesn't have the garage and car ownership appeal of the likes of Forza and many others.

    Only One Winner.......LOL

I guess there is little choice other than diesel for huge torque, decent enough economy - and importantly, continuous reliability. Imagine battery packs trying to provide the above running 12 hours a day for months on end!

    Half Life Alyx

Makes me laugh at how many studios out there are bouncing ideas around, desperately trying to come up with something that will sell well. Yet Valve have sat on their arse with this since HL2 : Episode 2, back in 2007. Not only that, but the potential for L4D3. Both games would sell by the...

    Assetto Corsa Competizione

With my new-found liking for racing sims recently, I decided to opt for Assetto Corsa Competizione on the PC. As you'd expect, its from the same team that brought out Assetto Corsa, but focuses solely on the Blancpain GT series. https://www.assettocorsa.net/competizione/ That in itself is a...

    Rear shocks gone...wet!

Yep - definitely had it that! I think iirc, you need a 17mm socket for that bolt. Could be wrong be I recall it being a weird size when I did mine a good number of years back.

    Rear shocks gone...wet!

As per @DrR above - very easy to replace yourself with a socket set and a jack. MUCH easier than the fronts anyway.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Meh - my replacement A50 PU rod idea didn't exactly go according to plan. Stripped the brake pedal setup again last night to insert the new load cell. Typically, the cable on the new load cell itself was about an inch too short, we then required drilling a feeder hole through the base plate...

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Nice! I found the throttle quite subtle in difference - but the brake was night & day difference. Iirc, the cylinders that the spring fall into are all the same diameter. There would be nothing stopping you in putting the stiffer spring into the throttle, I guess?

    Lets Talk Printers?

I remember when I first got into IT in the late 90s and the media costs of those dye sub printers was eye-watering. No doubt the print quality and end results are second-to-none - but so expensive.

My 182 was £12.2k through Lloyds-TSB Car Finance. Picked it up from Renault Manchester. Renault Manchester had the same car themselves for sale at £16k. Lol.
