Mine turned up today and as usual, I've jumped straight into the single-player campaign - online shat can wait. ;)
So far, so good. It's not too much like COD (which is a good thing imo) but it's definitely not got that legendary Battlefield 'feel'. BF1942, BF2 and BF2142 all had a series feel...
Re: the computer games industry... and moi.
Sure is. Lee's pre-rendered in the background taking pics of nothing but T&A!
Top work Naith. Couldn't you wangle it to have played a slightly deranged and heckling Welsh person? Not sure how it would fit into the script - but you'd get the...
Well I have to say, it's a very impressive piece of kit. My sister-in-law went for the i5 version instead as the Apple Store stressed that for her needs an i7 one would be total overkill. I read that as "we have shitloads of the i5's in stock but are awaiting the i7's with no ETA". Cynical? Me...
Chaps,
Looking into identifying a relay on my m8's 172 Flamer. On removal, it appears that all three of the black ones have had water damage & corrosion and one of the larger brown ones.
The black ones have the easily readable Reno p/n of 7700414484 on them. But the larger brown one appears...
Brilliant m8 - probably one of the best informative posts I've read on here!
The whole Fire/Quadro thing makes sense compared to the mainstream 'gamer' cards. I guess there might also be a factor of economies of scale in there affecting the price too? I'd hazard a guess that...
No apologies needed - good to read that above!
So where do you think things will head over the next 5-10 years? The possibility of cheaper, multiple GPUs per card? Or would we quickly start to see bottlenecks at the interface/bus level then?
Things like triple-SLi intrigue me, but having...
Piece off piss fix, m8.
I went to B&Q and got a pack of larger washers for about a quid. Sprayed some WD40 on the nut to loosen it take it off, then slid the washer back on with the nut over it - trapping the tray up against the chassis.
Worked a treat and stopped the rattling noise straight...
Aw, man!

No.5 is out pretty much any day now too. Looks like they have gone back to the German U-Boat theatre of SH3. Best of the 'settings', imo...

It's a shame that the dedicated physics co-pro never really found the right backing and/or development. I mentioned it on a similar thread on here ages ago about the 'potential' of a pure physics co-pro - certainly within games and simulations.
Imagine having a co-pro working 100% to calculate...
I remember getting the sniper rifle for the first time on that and thinking 'wow - great game!'
What ruined it for me was the respawning of the bad guys. Clear a room and walk away - 20ft later, you were shot in the back from that very same room. Bastids.

You lot have got me paranoid now. I think I'll change my password when I get home! :)
Jason - Steam's been s**t for a few weeks m8. Everytime I've gone on recently, it's either applied an update or takes ages to connect. Mind you, from doing a Speedtest.net run yesterday, I was down to 0.20MB...
Have you played the SP campaign on Unreal Tournament 3, Roy? It's a little repetitive, but definitely a good skill-tester on the harder difficulties. You can up the eye-candy quite high as well.
There's another one that's a little obscure that I can't remember the name of - I'll check when I...
Trouble is with that, is that you give them an inch and they will take a bloody mile! ;)
Like at our place. Importing customer pricing can be done by most sales staff - but as IT can do 'it quicker' (read that as : I can't be arsed, let them do it) - it often gets sent to us.
If we're not...
The 5850 will have some decent clout, m8. I've got a 4870 (soon to be 4890) and for the most part, it can handle a lot of bells and whistles being switched on in games.
Of course, you'll get the hardware killers - Crysis being one of them - but with higher resolutions, having 1GB of memory...
Post 9 it is then..... Longy has a 5770 and its fine from what he says. It also supports DX11 - and if your mobo supports Crossfire, you should be able to whack another 5770 in there at some point in the future, for not much money. :)

Did you ever complete ^^^ that, m8? Is it worth seeing through to the end? I put an hour or two into it, but other games pulled me away more.
Cheers,
D.
