Just gave Macau a go. Great start and finish, but the rest I feel like I'm on the run from the law down some alley-way. ;)
I've fecked my installation up too by adding cars left right and centre. Clearly one of them is corrupt and crashes the PC back to desktop.
Think I'll stick with the...
Has anyone tried this yet, as we've got Photoshop CS2 installed on the Mac here.
Just a general query (as I don't use it myself) whether CS3 is much of an imrpovement?
Also, any news on a more accurate ETA for it's release? I've only heard that 'Spring' is the launch date for it.
Cheers,
D.
As Adam says - buying a DX10 card really should be your only choice at the moment. Unless you were offered say a 7900GTX or 7950GTX at a very decent price.
That, or you had an existing DX9-gen card and wanted to go down the SLi or XFire route.
D.
It all comes down to what you want to do Dave. XP64 actually has more in common with Windows 2003 Server and simply has XP 'bits' chucked on.
I use both XP64 and XP32 on my home PC. A good 90% of the time, I stick with XP32, but there are some apps and games that make use of the 64-bit O/S -...
The Macau track seems to be getting some good reviews. Looking forward to this one.
Anyone got some other decent recommendations for alternative cars?
D.
Sounds like a graphics card issue from what you describe. What spec is your card?
Do you have the latest drivers and DirectX 9.0c installed? There was an update for that in February.

I'm no console player, but I think Microsoft did the best thing they could by promoting online gameplay - something that Sony seemed to ignore for ages. I presume they are addressing that issue with the PS3?
Also of a worry for Sony (imo) is the number of disillusioned PS fans who are...
Much easier (and usually cheaper) to build one yourself, James. PC components these days are 'almost' idiot proof and you get the benefit of knowing exactly what's under the lid, should somthing go wrong.
D.
Hmmm. Not convinced by the 197s I've seen at all. But that looks very good indeed. Drop it slightly and it would look even better.
Liking the Meggy - very much so....

Some of those ribbons and badges seem a little crazy to obtain. I think even some of the uber-geeks would have trouble acquiring them!
I'm an amateur at BF2142 player though. I think Nebdingo on here is a hardcore BF2/BF2142 player....?
D.
Yep, still on BF2142 myself (when I get the chance). Just about keeping my 10:1 K/D ratio for the tank going, but it's all too easy to slip into single figures!

Ah, I see what you mean.
Ok smarty-pants, if you want to nitt-pick, SLi is actually a proprietary nVidia trade-mark - so even if Intel made an 'SLi capable motherboard', they would still have to licence the technology from nVidia. That, or come up with an architecture all of their own. :rasp...
Not to 'unplayable' quality as such - but certainly with enough wallop to make you realise that the hardware is working overtime to run it all smoothly.
Oblivion maxed-out, outdoors and in the rain is a big resource hog - as it Supreme Commander, to name but two.
D.
I'd definitely agree with that - swings and roundabouts!
SLi is the danglies when used properly though. The other benefit of the 8800 cards (compared to my 7900GTX's) - is the support for DX10 as well.
D.
That's the best way to go, m8.
Buy a great card now and then track it's price over the next 6 months. Then nab another one when it's probably half price! ;)
D.
You sure can - they've even had nForce 4 mobos in Intel & SLi combo for quite sometime. More often than not, nVidia make both an AMD and Intel spec of the same chipset - such as the 590 and the 570. Clearly, the 680i is an Intel-only option at the moment though.
Just make sure (because I'm...
Seagate's have always been good for me - Western Didge are ok too. Had loads, loads, LOADS of problems with Maxtors. If you take into account the 200 PCs we have here, you can bet that a drive will fail when powered by Maxtor.
Crap things.

I think Brian should have his own sticky section - This Month's Driving Tip...
I must admit, the only thing I do regularly is the blip-throttle / downchange action in my car. Feels great when you get it right - so smooth.
D.
I've got the PSU listed below, m8 - works fine for me.

Hanging off that, I have:-
Asus M2N32-SLi Deluxe mobo
AMD AM2 4800+ CPU
2GB OCZ Spec-Ops 800mhz memory
2x 320GB Seagate SATA2 drives
2x Asus EN7900GTX graphics cards, running in...
I love threads like this. People get more defensive about their choice of PC bits than they even do with their cars. ;)
A £1k budget is a good amount. You should easily be able to get a decent setup with that. If you've got some cash left, I'd definitely recommend investing in a new case. I...
I think we have one of the Tixi ISDN mailbox jobbies around somewhere. Never bothered with it really. I suspect the only way you'd get it working is by connecting that to a wireless router in some way.
Strange combination for over here, but I strongly suspect that there will be some German...
