Hedtec get reasonable reviews. They are mostly FIA compliant (so meet SNELL requirements), meaning they will have passed FIA safety tests, which track day-only helmets won't have been subject to.

The cloth Recaros do seem very susceptible to wear and tear, much more so than the leather. If he is willing to drop the price a bit, I would probably still go for it.

No idea how much used ones are, but the Camera on my Pixel is pretty good. Phone is tough too.

I admit I am biased (worked on the GT project) but they are such a stunning car. As for the R8 comparison, there isn't really a comparison to be honest. The GT is a level above the Audi, it's a proper bit of kit.
