Dampers would be my first port of call mate. These go through rears quite often

How was it? It'd defo be the saxo for me, but as has been said, it'd have to look standard. I'd happily have boosted Saxo for a laugh for a few months

If by 'done' you mean painted, then it doesn't need claying as there will be nothing on the paintwork for the clay to remove

If it had lost compression it would spin over faster than usual. If its just "dead" then it's gotta be the battery. They don't seem to jump start very well either.

So what was it doing when trying to turn it over? Was it spinning faster than usual? The same but just not firing? Or was it not even turning over?

Have you asked to see the symptoms yourself since?

So they pinched the HT lead when refitting the inlet? Still technically their fault then :p I jest, glad its sorted mate :)
