It's not the camera, it's the lens, but at 10mm you are always going to get a soft edge. Shoot in aperture priority. Between f11-f13 for the sharpest edges according to some reviews. Remote shutter/2 second delay and a tripod or rest it on the shelf opposite if possible.

Could pick up a Sony z3 compact cheap enough. On o2 they do their contracts so you pay for the phone and plan. Once the phone is paid off, you just pay for your data etc. Think you can get a z3 for 20 odd per month. More than capable camera, easy to use and a nice size.

@gally can you get rid of the Samsung apps now? The ones that you'd never use? You can with the stock androi ones if you want them on the nexus but might make me consider a Samsung in the future if you can remove excess apps.
