    Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

Jaff, G1 needs a higher speed or vertical angle to shift the beading. That's why I go for G5 - I do mainly 30-50mph and it starts shifting at those speeds.

Car cleaning for the lazy man

It would benefit from a filler heavy product, such as Super Resin Polish, AF Tripple, BlackMax, Red Moose Glaze etc etc the list is endless. Just adding this alone will make the paintwork stand out and you can then do as above and not spend £££ on products (AG HD is not expensive, £20 for a...

Mine is categorically down on power, currently. Also has a funny cold start, which again shows it's the MAF.

Yeah, think I've had one for a while. Need to get a new MAF AGAAIINN as well. flipping annoying. Tool is a pain as well, a torque screw with a bump in the middle.

Looks good, Ant! Out of interest, how did he know about the boost leak, how did you test for it and how did you fix it? Presume smoke test and new hoses for the latter two points? Interested... well, you can imagine why, since the Panzer is boosted lol!

No no, this is when it goes from chat to threats of legal action about what you've posted about a product someone bums.

Anyone up for a meet this weekend? Unit or other? I have two days free for food, drink, car cleaning, chat, whatever you deem fit!

Such a little troll! Ah, hadn't realised that! Nothing to do with a contaminant remover, Andy? Not tried it, so can't comment, but will be using everything from last two boxes this weekend... can you tell the misses is away?!

    Your detailing blunders....

My thoughts. That's another one to add. Not washing the car down properly after tardis. Bye bye Megs Mild Clay.

RDS works like AFCP 1:1 with water. So I agree, if it's up at £6 it's not worth it. Think I did some sums a while ago...

    Wax safe pre-wash

Aye, defo wax safe Kev. No worries, bought too many of the towels as well and not sure if you can get them locally, hence the inclusion of that for your thoughts as well :)

    Wax safe pre-wash

I've not bought any for a while, so not sure what the going rate is. I know it's £6.99 in Halfrauds... £6 on ASDA's site IIRC...

Blunder? Ha! I'm god of this section. Squeegee to my mothers bonnet when I flicked paint on it aged 11.

    Stained Bird Droppings!! :@

And of course, you'll grow some balls and pay up if the OP damages his paint with too much wet sanding? Hilarious. Get someone close by with a machine polisher. Wet and dry isn't needed for bird etchings.

    Regards to the number plate

As above. You can then remove, wash and then as Craig/Cat171 has said, polish up the area. Suggest using panel wipe or IPA wipe down before applying the Velcro strips so you ensure a decent surface for them to stick to.

    First Full detail (Pic heavy)

Oh and drying; once washed and rinsed, use the open hose technique to sheet water over your car leaving few beads of water (if the wax is any good). Then, as has been said, use a decent quality MF drying towel to dab the beads. Dragging (whether it be circular or straight dragging) inflicts...

    First Full detail (Pic heavy)

As has been said, pros and serious hobbyists could make comments about products and techniques. But if I did, it would make me feel like a stuck record (and people would still not take it onboard). If it looks good to you, you enjoyed it and its given you a sense of achievement, I'd say that's...

    Dragons Breath

Good to hear chap! In that case, clean as normal then use IronX on them. I say IronX as it seems most of the products released after IronX are not quite up to the bar set by the original product. This will remove all iron contaminants. So wash, dab dry (doesn't need to be bone dry), IronX...

The Impreza picture and discussion thread

I think I want a hawk eye. Similar to the blue one a few pages back. Loud, quick, look very mean. But the image stops me instantly.
