Henk (the guy who owns fastchip) is on here - top bloke.
Can I ask a favour please James, can you PM who at Gripper you're dealing with and also how much they charge for recon (if you know).
I'm going to send mine back to them for a recon when the engine is out, save getting it out again in 6k miles or so... :)
Everyday is a school day. So far today I've learnt a Clio cup will stick with an M3 from 60 to 110mph, and that cliosport may or may not be dying. I'm getting a rich education.
You now know what 'IBTL' means. Feeling intellectually nourished?
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
v800mjh - Yep. But I learnt that the hard way, via k-tec. In honesty, I'm hoping to learn enough along the way to be largely self sufficient with the spanners, to a degree. Obviously I'll call on a specialist for mapping and things like that, but mechanically I want...
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Yep. Charger is looking promising. Bodies, plus cams, plus ECU is not far off cost wise a charger, so I'll see.
For the minute, I'm back to standard. Well, in terms of engine...
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Mmmm. I thought 428s were the same? I may have got that the wrong way round. Now I R confused! I'll speak with Mike.
Either way, I'm going for a slightly more aggressive cam profile with the bodies. I wouldn't have if my engine was healthy, just kept the 438s and...
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Plan is;
- Keep standard for 12 months or so.
- Then either cam / ITB (with 421s) it or supercharge it like Danlp6 's which I am hoping to have a ride out in at Bedford in Feb. From speaking to chip last night, Dan's current set up with the charger sounds ideal...
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Further progress made last night. Thanks to Chip-mk1 who came over to remove the 438 cams and kindly educate me further! Was good to catch up mate, shame we were so late we couldn't get some proper fodder in.
Overall I am still revelling in being able to work on...
iOllieSM - PM me tomorrow to remind me and I'll nip out and take some photos of the shocks so you can check they're ok. Then we'll sort a time and do the map aswell.
Nope. My replacement one is on the engine stand. Old one is still in the car....but has ancillary bits missing (inlet manifold etc etc). Sorry to clutter the thread Herbertez!
I have a set of rear shocks you can have for free. They don't have the dust guard on them, as I gave those to Dr Jekyll, but you can take the guards of your old set and and swap them over.
