I haven't bought it for looks, I've bought it primarily for safety as the car is going to be used by me for work. I want to make it as safe as possible and it serves that purpose nicely. It has made the whole car significantly stiffer, so handling wise there is a difference.
I get on with you...
It's built to current Motorsport regs, so I think it will do somewhat better than 'not really going to do much'. If you don't believe me, give these people a ring; http://www.therollcagepeople.com/clients.htm
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Lol - Tony and Chip, right on both counts!
Craig - I'm not planning to do anything to it next year other than track it as much as possible, as it seems more than capable of having fun in. I need to be a better driver before I further up the power. Glad you like it...
Let me know when you're free bud and I'll trundle over to Newbury. I'll let you pick a time, because I suspect you are a little more hectic than I am at the mo. How is the little one getting on? :)
Unfortunately the standard door bars don't fit with the seats (seats are too wide). I'll get some custom ones made up but for now its slightly more practical without them anyway mate.
Yep padding is on route.
Its made by a company called 'Caged Laser'. They used to be the 'roll cage people'. They make all the cages for the caterham, westy and mx5 race series.
I've got some padding on order Davey boy, because I thought exactly the same as you! Padding will be black.
Cheers Luke, I'll be getting some track day tyres on either Turinis or 2118s, so I can play about with the wheels a bit. I love the stock wheels, but I know what you mean - with the cage it doesn't look quite right anymore on the stock wheels.
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Cheers Luke, i'll text you about sunday later in the week. Hopefully it will be good weather, else its 'hunt a car park' time :)
Firstly, apologies for the pic heavy, poor photo quality (weather isn't exactly great) thread. The flamer has got a little impractical this week ;)
Project thread for spec is here; http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?612638-Cub-172-s-Flamer-Project&p=9165029#post9165029
Let me know...
In that case, punt it on ASAP mate. If you don't have the enthusiasm now, you won't have it in 4 months when it needs even more work on it or things aren't going to plan.
Use the money to buy a K11 for Llandow :)
By the by, flamer got caged this week. Photos up later in the week.
Looks good, or at least it will when you've sorted it out. I see you in the photo 'assuming the position', as per usual, lol ;)
Option 1. Things that need effort normally mean they are worth doing.
Sweet, I'll text you in the week, Sunday Afternoon is probably best mate. We'll get some shots of both, flamer is caged and I'm loving it. Want a passenger ride in yours, looks awesome.
Ryan - if you're about then trundle along in the ph1 :)
Looks good chap, and at that price is a bargain! Lol at Mike being busy, I don't mind joining and lending a hand, making teas and bacon sandwiches :)
Be good to see swift progress with it. You should bring it to Llandow.
Right in the centre, near the hospital chap. Mortimer is lovely, there are a few of us knocking around Reading, you should come along to the next South Central meet.
Hello fellow 'Reading'er. I'd stick with the Inferno and wait for the V. Whereabouts in Reading are you? I keep seeing an Inferno but I don't think they are on here.
