    Cleaning exhaust tips

Mercury has better chemicals in it, from my experience of both. Makes it easier, rather than "just" scratching the carbon off with the abrasives that both contain. Where you'll need wire wool with Autosol, you're less likely to need it with Mercury. Have you bought a porker yet?!

Well protected car, SF is useful and CP works wonders. Poorly protected car, SF really does nothing (unless it's full of APC/Degreaser), but CP manually sprayed can make a world of difference. This is why Avalanche is interesting. If it doesn't have the same effect as manually spraying CP...

Agreed. Which is why I want Tobias to hurry the f**k up and review Avalanche properly. Perhaps when he's not banneddedded.

John, PM me closer to next Friday. I'm up North and can put a sample of Hyper Wash in the post.

    Washing issue

Slightly concerned you're zooming over the car with 3M FCP and a rotary, and yet still use a chamois! So based on the above and to actually answer your question, I would put my money on you having pre-existing holograms in the paint, that the wet mitt is revealing.

The supplied sprayers are usually dross, John. They will give you a soapy solution over the car, but won't provide the shaving cream consistency you're after that clings to the paint. It depends what you're after - there are decent cleaners out there and there are basic snow foams. Valet Pro...

Correct, no abrasives, purely a chemical cleaner. I am still going through my Hyper Wash. Wax safe, bulk buy, works in the foam lance and as a general cleaner (not as good as some degreasers out there of course). All round good buy in my eyes.

Which wash mitt do you use?

CarPro wash mitt for the paint, a few Megs ones for the wheels and shuts and a noodle mitt for the arches.

    Glass sealants, worth it?

I had judder for the first time the other day. Realised my rear windscreen wiper was past its best. Other than that, easily 18 months of sheeting web washing, beading when raining and moving beads when driving!

Technically in the NW for a week and a half, but will be based in Cumbria for most of it. Popping up to Alderley Edge for the night on Thursday, then drive to the Lakes, so won't be around unfortunately. I'll PM you closer to the time. I have about 1l left - how much would you like?

    Another Nilfisk Question

For the sake of £20 I'm sure you could buy it separately, John? edit - wow! Perhaps not!! http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0001P0BPI/?tag=cliospnet01-21

    Another Nilfisk Question

If you're talking about using the pressure washer for other uses (drains, gutters, patios) I have no opinions. If you're talking about pressures for the car, the C120 is plenty powerful enough.

    Glass sealants, worth it?

Then watch it cloud up as it reacts with your wipers and screen wash... Chip, agreed.

Back to the lacquer. Sealants, fillers and waxes are technically contaminants on your paint surface. Bang on, de-ionised water. More than happy to. However, it is in my cupboard in the NW at the moment. If you can wait, I can get a sample across to you in two weeks (Friday 2nd Nov post date).

    Glass sealants, worth it?

With proper prep, the long lasting GT products will last for years. The C4 on my plastics is still beading from March 2011. RainX works well on the side windows, agreed. But on the front screen it will just wipe away/degrade with use of the sprayers.

    Glass sealants, worth it?

I applied G1 as I travelled to Birmingham from Manchester each weekend, so 60+ MPH on the motorway for 90% of the journey. It is still beading 2 years later. However, around town, I now need to apply G5 as my car barely moves/goes above 60. *and yes they are worth it - a lot of the time I...
