No idea with regards to the head gasket, if you want a track car i'd junk the 1.4 engine & valver engine it up (1.8 16v engine) they can be had for cheap (you could williams engine it 2.0 16v, but they cost more) Sort the brakes & suspaension out etc though.

Dual optics imo, nothing else. Places like euro car parts charge about £70 each for them new (you could probs get cheaper second hand though)

I got a tom tom one v4, with the extra antenna bit (it detects traffic jams etc) and re routes you. I can't fault it. it cost me about £160 a while ago (it'll be cheaper now)

Rich - Imo it's the tyres, I ran avons on my valver years ago, awful things tbh. God knows what my mate had on his gti, it really was ace though. I assume yours is 100% standard ?

My mates old gti handled so well as standard (it was quite new when he got it) no clio i've ever been in or driven was as good as that.
