about to spray my mini in matt black, need some good products to protect the car over the winter months so that it doesn't get another case of the rusts!
it could be if your engine mounts are shagged that the engine is knocking on the subframe or bulkhead with enough force to effect the cut off switch.
just an idea.
internals are surprisingly good, the metro turbo engines came with uprated pistons etc.
16psi will be ok with the uprated gearbox and diff which i already have.
i'm going to put my current gearbox (straight cut box) and diff on the new engine, both should be able to handle the extra power. plumbing looks worse than it is because of the uprated intercooler most people go for.
rust is not bad at all! it was de-rusted and resprayed about 6 or 7 years ago.
i'm going to respray it the same ford imperial blue all over and get the arches smoothed in as well.
Ok i've had my mini a while now and have decided that it is time to upgrade the engine. At the moment it has an 'A-series' 1275cc engine with a crazy race cam, it produces about 60bhp!
I will be picking up a metro turbo engine next week and hope to be running about 160bhp @ 16psi...
