They do them for the 106 and saxos Its basically a bar that bolts between the bottom arms, adding a little rigidity

You can use a screwdriver to press against the compressor, and the handle near your ear. Then do the same near the head etc etc Its like a crude stethascope, but will point you the the area of the issue. Might be the aux belt tensioners/pullys?

sounds like a tensioner/idler. Deffo coming from drivers side of cam cover>?
