RARB, needed with track spec coilovers?

Yeah oversteer was the main worry, might sell the ARB and get some FK 550 springs then.

RARB, needed with track spec coilovers?

Seems a bit of a grey area regarding a RARB when a 1*2 is set up on decent track spec suspension, some say it helps others say due to the stiff nature of track spec coilovers and springs it wont do much at all. Got AST's on mine with 450lb front and 600lb rear springs and just wondering peoples...

Ten tonne motorsport -budget Clio build

...and get rid of those federal tyres as they are more of a road tyre with a treadware of 140. Look for something under 100 like Toyo r888's or Yoko AD08R/A048's, Avon ZZR, Kumho v70a, Dunlop Direzza etc.

    Exhaust clamps 182

Yep same as mine mate, I tried with 2 x 69mm and a 76mm to no avail, but 69mm should be the right one. Just try and make sure the trumpet is not bent to get the best seal you can, smother the fecker in high temp silicone and clamp it up and hope for the best. The issue I was having was the...

    Exhaust clamps 182

Not in my experience it doesn't. I went through 3 clamps and a full tube of the orange loctite silicone and it still wouldn't seal.

    Exhaust clamps 182

If its a Scorpion set-up with trumpet and olive joint then my advise just have it welded as they are a nightmare to seal.

    Cambelt/Aux belt failure *POLL*

Yesterday on the way to have the belts done, lol.

    Cambelt/Aux belt failure *POLL*

Mods can you please change the aux belt interval to the same as cambelt, thanks.

Just broken down aux belt part gone...

Yep, seriously unlucky but sh*t happens.

    Cambelt/Aux belt failure *POLL*

So I'll start with mine on a 04 182, which is in the 'other' category as I have no idea when either were changed but the cambelt looked fresh, the aux belt not so. So the scenario, pulled away in first and it just died, after looking under the bonnet the aux belt had frayed on both edges and...

    Cambelt/Aux belt failure *POLL*

So after my recent aux belt failure slipping the timing on the Clio, I was just curious as to how often this actually occurs on the sport engines. If relevant please choose a poll option and post in the thread with what engine this occurred on and the scenario of how it happened.

Clio 182 - Artic track beast

Wheels look nice, r888s aren't great in the wet either BTW, OK in the damp, shite if there's puddles about. I only use mine on dry days now and have an old set of F1's with Rainsport 3's for wet days which are great for a mushy budget road tyre.

Just broken down aux belt part gone...

OK so the car is going into Carl for a ph1 head he has lying around as well as 197 cams as originally planned. Was all for breaking it this morning and never doing track days again 😂

Just broken down aux belt part gone...

Fills me with confidence this Carl, hahaha...

    New Engine.

Same just happened to my 182. If the 197 is the same design you may just need a replacement head.

    Unlucky Phil's, lol.

    Clio 182 track car

Yep they are far too aggressive for the light clio's. I was actually slower around Oulton compared to OE pads they were that bad with locking up. Mine has just snapped its aux belt taking the cambelt with it on the way to getting a full belt change, unlucky or what!

Just broken down aux belt part gone...

Haha I know yeah, just one track day to many!

Just broken down aux belt part gone...

As Carl said above its slipped its timing. Cams are moving when turned over but no compression so probably took all the valves with it. And to add insult to injury the AA guy sheared the tow eye, lol. Dunno what to do now, break or new head?

Just broken down aux belt part gone...

No metallic sound of the engine chewing itself up but you can't tell without opening it up I know. I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

Just broken down aux belt part gone...

Outer edge towards the wing, but looks worn outer and inner on the lower pulley but it is still in one piece as far as I can see.

Just broken down aux belt part gone...

Looks like an idler has failed. Belt still on at the top but looks worse lower down hanging on my a 1/4 of the belt.

Just broken down aux belt part gone...

Car is on its way to have its belts done and it' gone, what are the odds! Unsure of damage. It just died spluttering and found part of my aux belt gone.
