I would spray it onto the car mate. Then wash it with normal shampoo after rinsing the apc off. If not just go over the wax with BH save any hassle. It'll be fine aslong as there is no dirt or dust on the paintowrk. :) What colour is the 172?

The dyna S is the best non sport model mate, wider wings nicer wheels. Red and Black both look nice. There has been a few nice clean black ones on here over the years. I'll have a gander see if I can find some pictures.
