    Yeah i've had a rear and a front damper go and neither leaked on my old 172. Rear one completed broke, no damping at all, front only damped on the way up, no resistance on compression.

    172 and 182 units differ, i know that much. Look the same and function the same, but have different writing on.

    Which?? The green one or the black one? Just get a standard replacement, don't think there is a braided one for it.

    I said Cambelt change + the price of a dephaser, which looking through some old threads is £100ish, was 2 years ago when i had my 172 fixed. Cambelt + Dephaser £450ish + £100ish

    Exactly same here, had mine changed then 10 months later it, went, but mine sheared off and destroyed valves etc.
