No gap insurance doesn't matter Jon, the terms of most policy's are if the car is written off in the first year of ownership they will replace the car up to the value of yours minus your excess. Or you can just take the settlement if you have gap insurance and start again.

Sometimes it's as simple as the air con guy just replacing the seals, like 5p seals. The dryer may be goosed or the leak could be from the rad or pipes. Rad/pipes = £££'s!

Get it done properly Tom and the re-gas dude should test it with a compression test, leaks are very common when not used. Seals dry up ect... £25 seems very good Roughly £45/50 up here.
