    MPG and air filter setups

I'll look into moving it to the grill area, out of interest as i've never seen the OE Clio 172 setup where does the pipework run from, even better is there any pics knocking about of it. I'm all ears for making sure things are done right :)

    MPG and air filter setups

By the time i whipped out the mobile phone to take a piccy it dropped to 54 lol, this figure was driving at 60mph in an ambient temp of 0 degrees over 6 miles of dual carriageway. Since this morning it's dropped to 48 average in traffic, 30mph, standstill....... I expect it to be lower of...

    Power, the next step

More harm than than good as it made nothing on the rollers?? IMO direct 102mm diameter flexi pipe feed from the foglight to the bigger box will help the breathing.... surely better than my old setup that had a cheap Max Power style induction filter fitted to the end of the OE inlet pipe.

    MPG and air filter setups

Yesterday i fitted the Espace V6 airbox and ran a 102mm diameter feed from the outlet to the passenger foglight. With the old air filter induction i's on average over the last 2 years see 37-39MPG, pure motorway driving would give me 44-45MPG. I tripped the meter before heading to work and in...

    Power, the next step

I didn't mind removing the rear bench seat, black bar behind the seats, all parcel shelf gubbins and some rear interior plastics. I'm not sure i'd go too much further with weight reduction as it's still an everyday car not an all out track weapon..... yet :S I liked the bucket seats no rear seat...

    Power, the next step

Indeed, a nice power to weight gain is losing the rear bench seats, oe front seats and fitting buckets.... which i've done :)

    Power, the next step

OK, been about a week now and liking the Cliosport site. There's mountains of information and more than one company or person that can deal with the same things. So, at the moment i'm running a stealth exhaust and the R21 turbo or V6 airbox with direct airfeed to the foglight. My money is hard...

    K-Tec sits too low....

I bought new rear and centre section hangers the same time as the exhaust, both failed

    K-Tec sits too low....

I ditched the centre sectioned rubber hanger too as it stretched to the point of snapping with the mild steel stealth system. I went to Halfords for a solution and found what was an L shaped metal bracket with a heavy duty flexible strap on the end of it. I drilled a hole in the bracket and used...

172 the standard back box fell off

My phase Clio 172 did exactly the same thing, it damaged the centre section as well in the process. The OE back box and the centre section worked out to be exactly the same price (£235ish) as the K Tec Stealth system in mild steel so i bought that instead

    rear numberplate light

No probs, IMO for the sake of £10 you have a spankin new one not a mouldy green one

    rear numberplate light

    I bought mine from Renault, about £10-11. Part No: 77 00 410 754

My Odyssey Blue phase 1 Clio 172

Cheers, i've had the 2118s a couple of years now and was deciding whether to go anthracite with them. I also have the oe OZ F1 wheels which i'm in the middle of refurbing and painting, they've been orange but changing them as i've seen another odyssey blue with exactly the same colour wheels.

    Newbie with a phase 1 Clio 172

I did notice they looked identical when i saw a pic of the espace V6 box. at least i didn't pay main dealer prices, £5 on E Bay :D

    Newbie with a phase 1 Clio 172

The airbox i'll use is from a Renault 21 turbo, it has a 100mm outlet which will run direct either under the headlight, to the front bumper or to the foglight. The other end is 72mm which will run to the inlet via flexi pipe

Sounds good, i've been on the lookout for a cage a while now, 2nd hand would be nice to keep the cost down. Was qouted £800 for a Safety Devices cage but didn't have the cash to splash out on it

    Newbie with a phase 1 Clio 172

Hi Bod, will always be on RTOC and should be at Mallory too. Just thought it was time to join CS to see what's going with the 172s and what people have done to them

    Newbie with a phase 1 Clio 172

I did have it RR'd at Powerstation and it was spot on 171PS, however i am working on a homebrew airbox at the moment with a cold air feed either to the passenger side foglight or to the slats under the passenger headlight. It might make a difference along with the K Tec stealth exhaust

My Odyssey Blue phase 1 Clio 172

Wow thanks, always looks better in the pics :) It's a work in progress, i've come to a crossroads with it and not sure what to do next with it. Thinking of a full cage.... maybe TBs..... hmm not sure

My Odyssey Blue phase 1 Clio 172

Thought i'd post a couple of pics of my phase 1 Clio 172, owned it about 2 1/2 years now and still enjoy it today as i did when i drove it home after buying it. Mods: Brakes: Ferodo DS2500 pads, Brembo Max discs, new OE rear discs, pads, bearings. Braided hoses Suspension: K Tec coilover...
