Small brake set ups like on the Clio have limits due to the lack of heat dissipation. Even with the best pads available like DS1.11 I would start to get fade after long stints. Track spec rears would help balance the load out as mentioned .

Spray it up with plusgas or wd40 and try again tomorrow. Sure its an open ended 17 maybe 19mm spanner, or just go to Halfords for an adjustable. Little tap with a hammer on the end should loosen it. f**k going the garage to change them.

This^ swap the sensors to see if it makes a difference.

Mine was only spaced at the front seatbelt anchor points. If you cant find big enough spacers you could buy a load of big penny washers. At the rear I didn't have spacers and just used some extra long high tensile bolts, think they were something like 120mm length. Info should be in my 182 FF...

Think you'd be better off with them at the rear, especially if you have an aftermarket RARB?

Made a nice difference to turn in on my MR2 when I neutralized the ARB's via adjustable drop links. They must be set with the suspension loaded, needs to be done on a ramp really.

Rainsports 5's are decent. I've got them as wets for my MR2 and they are epic in wet conditions, better than the 3's IMO. Stiffer sidewalls than the 3's as well so don't roll over as much when really pushed. Although like the 3's they don't have as much steering feel compared to other premium...

Looks like you will have to go with plasitc rings as there's no aftermarket metal ones out there in these sizes. You could try contacting OZ directly as I know my OZ's on the MR2 came with factory fit alloy rings as they are OZ stamped.

I've got MRF 15" slicks and they're great.

The above alignment shouldn't cause issues under braking. Seems like a brake bias unbalance. Have them put it on their rolling road used for brakes if they have one.

@dann2707 have a look at this guy on eBay. does loads of decent new and used 15" track tyres fairly cheap. Ive used him loads and he's spot on. Always accepts best offer as well, normally between 20-30% off the advertised price...

That's what I reckon I could do it on my own on axel stands taking my time around 11-12 hours, a garage should be able to do it much, much quicker. I personally wouldn't pay more than £700. Most of the things above could also be done yourself to save money, plenty of how to's online for the MK5.

Then surly the auto makes more sense. For me, if using a manual box I like to engage with it. That why I have a ZF8 for a daily and short ratio 6MT for fun.

I get it has a wide power band but 100+ in 3rd and 130+ in 4th just seems far to long for a hot/hyper hatch. For me a fast hatch should have a slick, short ratio box that you can bang up and down the gears making use of heel and toe, longer gears just takes all the fun out of it for me. Looks...

I love the ZF8 in my 330d. I'd expect it to be even better in the free revving M-lite. The MT just seems like its geared far to long for the engine.

Check the aux belt and pulleys ASAP. My alternator pulley came lose, snapped the aux belt and took the cam belt with it. Needed a head rebuild to fix.

Just remove it trackside, its only 4 bolts and a electronic clip. EML should go out again once refitted. As well as removing a bit of weight you also have a seat to sit on outside when off track, win-win.
