Clutch was a new valeo unit when the gearbox was fitted, from GSF so not 'genuine renault'.
Might be in my thread somewhere actually or in our pms but i'm not sure off the top of my head!
I dont know if notchy is the right word, it just feels like i'm right on the edge of every gear as it...
Had a poor gear selection for a while now and its getting a bit tiresome so thought i'd post up a thread.
I was running a custom scenic shifter with the standard linkage and it felt quite 'notchy' into gear and sometimes was tough to get into first. Often when stopped in traffic I had to go...
Hello,
Im looking at buying some uprated engine mounts for my 182, When i research online Vibratechnics state they make road engine mounts and competition ones?
Im after competition ones but cant find them anywhere? All im coming across are the fast road ones
can anyone point me in the right...
...this isn't as bad as it sounds.
Before Dony, we also did an oil change, our usual spanner check and fitted SS brake lines and the Vibratechnics engine mounts. And, sadly discovered a pretty big oil leak from the sump gasket. We silicon sealed it to stop it dripping and kept an eye on it...
...The shocks and clutch felt fine, better than they did at Thruxton/Combe.
The todo list looked like:
Replace Rear Wheel Bearings
Fit Vibratechnics Engine Mounts
Replace Shocks
Replace Clutch
Replace Cambelt and dephaser
Fix ePAS issue - The knob needs twiddling before it cuts in
Fix ABS...
I'm full black series polybushed, evol dogbone, vibratechnic mounted, b14s on solid topmounts and run a decatted non-resonated milltek exhaust on polybush mounts.
I also drive my car everyday to work and use it everywhere. It's not bad at all, admittedly I've put sound deadening on the rear...
Just to add in here vibratechnics engine mounts aren't that bad, yes they're stiff but that's the whole point of them😂
I've driven PD diesels that have had black series mounts, now that gets f**king very tiresome after about 2 minutes!🤣
...and rigid enough as it is. I'd replace with OEM tbh but maybe look at upgrading to a slightly stiffer engine and gearbox mount such as Vibratechnics, Innovative or Energy mounts. Dog bone mount also helps, I've got that on mine as it came with the car.
My future plans will be similar to...
Had it off again tonight as I had a pair of Ktec/Vibratechnics mounts to fit anyway.
Found no witness marks at all on the underside of the sump guard but I did find of the bolts that hold the linkage protection plate was polished on the top. It was just touching the large M12 bolt head that...

...car, its not fauling the engine or transmission, yet ive a significant increase in cabin vibration, similar to the first time you fit Vibratechnics engine mounts. Ive noticied a huge increase in subframe stiffness and am assuming this is attributing to the increase in NVH.
Anyone else have...
Something I’ve been after for a while is a PMS sump guard. I’m always mindful that the car is pretty low and when pressing on in the back of my mind about catching the underside on something.
Luckily one came up on eBay in good condition a few weeks back, so ordered new M8 RivNuts from Nick @...
...and will arrange a once over/inspection, not sure who rebuilt it last time.
Not ruling out cvs or mounts yet, i had a quick look earlier and my 1000 mile old vibratechnics rear mount is starting to delaminate so might be that with the engine moving. Absolute rubbish, ive already had it rewelded.
Yeah definitely hit and miss. The standard Escort mount isn't the best design, but the Vibratechnics one was shocking. Made of welded aluminium sheet, which had just cracked. Later versions were steel, but it was pretty obvious that ali would never have done the job.
I just preferred the black powder coated finish of the ktec ones. Just need to find some decent bolts now or get a set zinc plated. Back to work next week so will work out if I can now live with the clutch or replace with an RTS one from Kam racing.
...i noticed the rear engine mount had split around the welds. Its done 800 miles running in mileage and mapping, hardly used.
Mount is a vibratechnics one. Proper flimsy piece of s**t really, only welded on one side, not cheap and not fit for purpose
I was highly annoyed over this and feel...
...is a tuning lead for the ME221 so I can load a base map on to try & start the car
Obvs the a/c delete from PMS & will be changing the Vibratechnics upper engine mount for a PMS one as there is one bolt redundant from the lower inlet & I feel it would be safer to get the PMS design
Some Type D...
Got the car back from Alex last week and it's back to it's former glory making ridiculous choo choo noises!
He did a load of work for me, including:
replacing the n/s ABS ring which was causing the ABS light to come on and ABS to behave strangely
have the box input seal replaced
send off the...
...into another, while the battery was out I decided to do the upper box mount and with it the left hand engine mount. Went down the VibraTechnics route and I’m very happy with them. Had a few problems with the gearbox mount as it was very tight on the stud. Ended up removing the spider and...
Same thing happened to mine.. I couldn't get it back off after a few "Taps" so i had to put a deep socket over it and "whack" it down.. been on a year and no problems..

Just a quick 1 chaps.
Part way through fitting a vibratechnics upper gearbox mount using guides on the forum. Going ok till this:
The 1st washer in the kit won’t go down the spindle far enough, now I’ve read you might need to “tap” down with an over size socket but “tapping “ isn’t working.

The PMS mounts are one of my favourite mods tbh. No movement at all. I went from standard mounts to vibratechnics to PMS and they’re night and day better.
