Well I didn't expect my project thread to start on day 1 😂
Today I drove the long old drive down to Portsmouth and traded in my Civic runabout for an AG200.
The car is a regular 200 with cup pack, plus BT/Nav and what I believe to be a dealer option leather interior which is a bit marmite...
Yeh, I need the car back functioning tomorrow really, so will just have to overpay I think. Put some wanted threads on the groups, will stick one on here too.
Given it all a really good clean under there too, it wasn't really that bad at all either, the car hasn't really been used since...
Already having a nightmare, the wipers were fine when we picked it up, but they got progressively worse as we got home, until they stopped.
The linkage was pretty seized, got home with some improvised rainx. Managed to remove the linkage, dismantle, clean, regrease and reassemble this evening...
Collected the clio this morning.
It's not perfect, a few issues I want to sort, including a couple of really annoying paint issues and cloudy headlights, but compared to the others I saw it's far better. Lighter clutch, GB is lovely, power seems good and everything works.
Already had some lads...
Not complaining about the tester at all, it's the trader that should have put a bit more effort in pre mot imo. But I guess most customers wouldn't care, and the fact it's been fixed afterwards is good still.
Personally I don't mind stuff like play in bushes or even a dodgy valve, but when it's...
MOT passed on the AG yesterday, collecting this Saturday all being well.
A bit annoying that it got a couple of advisories on the MOT, they have sorted the bulbs now but it would have been nice to have a clean MOT.
I can't be the only person who gets fussy about clean MOTs, advisories like...
It's worth enquiring, that dealership (the one near Market Weighton I presume) is a strange old place. It's not a big chain I don't think, it looks and feels more like a family business when I've spoken to them, so they might be quite competitive.
Did Mick get back to you? I'd hold off ordering any parts until you've spoken to him tbh.
Also if he supplies the parts and something fails then you can just take it back, worth the slight premium imo.
On a 1*2 the water pump is easy enough to do later iirc, so you could leave that off.
And back in my day no one seemed to get the dephaser pulley changed, now people change it at every belt change. But then for the sake of £200 it does remove some risk.
Also might be worth getting a quote off...
I'd just go to Diamond Motors, parts plus the proper tools and the price isn't much different.
It's a bit of a trek from North Yorkshire but you can make a day of it.
I posted last week about how hard work they were to talk to, but seeing a couple of rougher ones this weekend just made me pay the extra and go for this.
I ended up dealing with them via email as it was far easier to get straight answers that way, then when I called to do the final deal and put...
