There's more to it than a decent seat. Noise is its main issue. It's always noisy when cruising. Least refined car I've had.
I'm not sure on that point. Don't get me wrong, I got more enjoyment out of my M5 more of the time because it was so well rounded but the Clio would be more outright fun...
That's fair enough but a car not being the former doesn't mean it's the latter. It's a balancing act.
When it's the depths of winter, pitch black and pouring with rain, feeling like you might be in a racing car is irritating when you just want to get back from work and relax. As an example.
Then you need to drive some comfy cars for perspective!
An example would be a drive to Fort William for me, 140 miles. Doing it in an M5 and a Clio Trophy is night and day.
Have never driven or been in a 200. Getting a chance to drive one wouldn't be straightforward.
Anyone know of someone around Tayside on here with one that would be willing to take me out as a passenger?
Highly strung isn't an issue, I'm more talking of general refinement in the cabin. I'd say...
Yeah I had seen that, it's more in direct comparison to the 182 I'm interested in. These cars will always feel relatively raw compared to most modern cars but if it was toned back a noticeable amount, as I'm hoping the 200 might be, I like to think I could live with it.
A bit of background, work situation is changing (significantly less money due to shifts stopping) so I'd rather not be using my Boxster quite so much to work (currently 50 mile round trip, usually 3 times a week vs. the same twice a week in the Trophy) due to general maintenance and repairs...
On the drive to work today there was the faintest of signals and it would find stations when searching through. It was fleeting though.
If it is the signal, what else could it even be with a new aerial and base fitted?
I binned the aftermarket unit but there was nothing wrong with it functionally. Just not sure on the likelihood of the radio itself being duff.
It's an 'update list' which is what I should need for my car (2005) as far as I could find.
I'm in Carnoustie, appreciate the offer but I'll hold off...
Aerial now replaced too and not a blind bit of difference. Still zero signal.
What are the odds on the radio itself being the issue? CD works fine and it goes through the preset stations no bother.
Also worth mentioning, the car is a Trophy so it has the V6 spoiler but I only noticed recently that the boot struts the previous owner fitted allowed the boot to open too far and actually foul the aerial and spoiler.
I've since replaced the struts but if the aerial itself could be sensitive...
Recently changed back to a standard CD player giving me bugger all radio reception. Read about the aerial base giving problems so I just replaced that today and it hasn't made a difference.
Could it be the aerial itself?
Here's a nice before and after of the calipers I bought.
Just got to build them now. I only realised today that the wheel actually pulls to the right as the car squirms left under braking. Had convinced myself I was having to steer into it myself but tried some braking with almost no grip of...
I'll prioritise that then, especially given I had the other two mounts replaced previously and didn't touch the dogbone because it was already polybushed.
At least I've had the cat flange replaced and sorted this way...
So the exhaust is now sorted and the knock is still there.
Revisiting engine and gearbox mounts, is it possible for them to look good but actually be suspect enough to cause this?
Currently fully refurbishing a used set of front calipers and carriers I bought on ebay, a full bead blast, prime and paint affair and just curious as to how much I'd likely get for them?
I'll be fitting these ones to my Trophy and wondering if it'd be worth it financially to then do them too...
Good enough for me, cheers.
Can you recommend where to get the front brake hoses? Just looking for standard, no braided lines or any of that.
There are Pagid ones on carparts4less and Mister Auto list quite a few but lengths seem to vary somewhat so not sure what to go for.
