Best before dates on detailing products?

Think I answered my own question yesterday. Used an open bottle of Sonus SFX-2 that must be 15 years old. Gave it a good shake and went over the roof on the Clio due to various bird s**t and leaf marks. Came up really well - just need to do the rest of the car now! :P

    Pad cleaning?

Seems to be some information out there about cleaning products for the detailing pads themselves. Are they worth it - or is simple warm water and squashing the pads the better option? Cheers.

The ongoing quest - replacing those headlights

That, I definitely do! Think I'm going to have to be patient and be on the search for a decent darker set to come up for sale.

The ongoing quest - replacing those headlights

I have an irrational hatred for the standard light grey 182 lights. I really do dislike them. If there's one thing that I wish I could change easily, it would be these bloody things. I can never shake the 'sun faded' look that used to plague cars of a certain age - especially the external...

    Assetto Corsa EVO

Had a dabble of the Porsche 935 earlier - a bit understeery, but quite good. Redlines very quickly which kept catching me out.

    GTA 6

Like most triple-AAA games - I'll wait a while (read - years) until issues are ironed out and it all works well. Left 2077 alone for five years before buying and starting it and it was 98% stable. Hopefully as and when it arrives in PC land - Rockstar won't have the same head-wobble of RDR2 and...

    DAB aerial base?

Might not be a bad thing as I'll be removing trim at some point.

    DAB aerial base?

Was fitting it straight-forward enough mate? Was thinking of using the original aerial code to act as a draw cable to pull the additional leads through? Does the existing cable run straight down the middle of the car, or do it head off towards one of the A-pillars diagonally? Thanks.

    DAB aerial base?

Has anyone fitted a combination aerial base to their 1*2? Something similar to this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072J3JYQW/?tag=cliospnet01-21 Any successes or not? Just intrigued - to remove the DAB aerial strip from my windscreen really. Thanks.

No instrument cluster on Clio 182.

I did have an instrument cluster fail on mine a year or two after I got it. Thankfully, I returned it to Renault just a week or two before the warranty ran out and they replaced the entire thing. Unfortunately, they never did say what the problem was - but it did appear to be behaving similar...

Best before dates on detailing products?

Sounds like I should be keeping them, then.... ;) Never really had anything proper special. Mainly AutoGlym and Megs products. Probably have a few bottles with a few cap fulls in that could be binned I guess.

Best before dates on detailing products?

Hi all, I presume it's a 'thing' like most fluids and chemicals - that they have a shelf life? Started a clear-out recently of accumulated crap over the years and remembered that I have quite a few shelved bottles of waxes, polishes and various other cleaning fluids. I know for sure that I've...

    Assetto Corsa EVO

Well, well, well.... Just had a few minutes to see if I could see any obvious fixes graphically - and I've spotted a few below. No.1 for me that has annoyed me since the ACC days has been the texture pop-in of the grass banking at Oulton Park, when climbing out of Knickerbrook up to Clay Hill...

    Assetto Corsa EVO

Nice one Andy - well described and interesting to read. It does sound like there's a number of bug fixes in there too. I've not fired up 0.7 yet, but will do shortly - I'll see if I notice anything specific myself.

    The VR thread

As mentioned a few posts up - stay well clear of kit using Fresnel lenses. I don't believe anything new actually does any more - but if there's a cheap 2nd hand kit coming your way - check on the lenses first. Such a compromise to the primary function of VR - visual clarity. Utter crap.

Was just about to post this. :) Interested to hear from Andy's (@SharkyUK) view, if there's anything significant in the rendering side below. RENDERER - brand new particle system with smoke, dirt and spray and impact effects there's a fallback video setting to disable the more expensive...

Indiction kit for clio 172 phase 1

As Matt says - if you're after pure sound difference, then the induction kit definitely works for that. Was genuinely surprised at the noise difference when I added one to mine on the 182. I went for the KTec 2RS induction kit...

Rejoined after a long break, LY182

I'd be getting a twitchy arse with those prices thinking they were Temu knock-offs. But if he's shown you the pricing from Renault directly, then fair play! To have the aux kit, cambelt, dephaser and water pump done for £1,600 - I don't think is that bad at current prices. Maybe a little...

Recode a Clio Campus key as a spare?

Just as a thought from taking the parts of a Clio Campus at the weekend. Would it be easy enough (or possible?) to recode one of the keys to work with my 182? I've no idea where my original spare key ended up - I lost that years ago. Would be handy to have a spare if the recoding option is viable.

    Stock 182 seat height

Just a question when ravaging a Clio Campus for spares today. Having removed the front seats, the little castor 'risers' were underneath - but are they necessary? I'd like the idea of dropping my seats slightly if possible, but am acutely aware that there might be more exposure to the...
