So far the mount is performing brilliantly but is comfier than the ST was with the Vibratechnics mount haha
Well update for parts;
Bought/reserved the following;
- 182 manifold and decat/link pipe
- Pair of Sabelt harnesses
- New exhaust hangers
- New exhaust gaskets
Also replaced the...
...that in my ownership. Will be buying a machine polisher between me and my brother so will be even better shortly.
Today I have managed to get the Vibratechnics upper engine mount fitted, was an easy enough job and allowed me to paint the upper mount as well;
Time for the test drive......
...i got all the engine sorted and dropped that back into the car while it was still on axle stands!!
Gearbox all back together with vibratechnics mount
Then removed all the loom, chopped it all down to the minimum, and re-routed it with blue casing. i know this is not to everyones tastes...
...and front clamp/hangers.
The knocking noise has been traced to the RH engine mount being more or less completely shot so ordered the Vibratechnics mount instead. Proved it to be this mount by simply inserting a steel section and road testing the car and it removed the noise completely
Big...
I owned one with Bilstein suspension, LSD, uprated anti roll bars, vibratechnics engine mounts, 17x9 wheels, focused geo, stripped out with a rear cage circa 1220kg's, alcon calipers, 300bhp.
Makes the Clio 200 I now own seem pathetically slow and incapable in the handling department...
I find ours perfectly acceptable with vibratechnics mounts and the poly dogbone, but Porkies is on new standard mounts and the poly dogbone and that works well too.
Key thing is just not having tired old mounts and getting rid of the standard dogbone.
...with windscreen glue (haven't looked at how do-able this is on the upper gearbox mount) and pulling the engine as far forward as I can, or stumping for the ktec/vibratechnics ones. :S
Dogbone did absolutely nothing for me, and I've replaced both the std mounts, still get the acceleration noise.
Vibratechnics mounts aren't horrendously harsh once they've been run for a little while.
They give a much sharper drive and you have none of the knocking issues that standard mounts give even when new.
ive also got the vibratechnics mounts/powerflex dogbone and my cars never seen a track. absolutely fine for road use when theyve got a couple of k on them, a little vibration on idle but its worth it for how much it tightens up the front end.
both mine and my mates cars have the vibratechnics ones, i dont find them at all "too harsh for road"
i spose its how comfortable you want your car to be! id personally go for the good ones if youre going to track your car 12 times a year, otherwise youll just put more stress on your gear...
Re: ***How much is my car worth?***
Probably worth around £2k, but it's one of those "depends what someone wants to pay" with a car that's been modified.
...the engine currently sitting on 61k miles
I was just wondering how much the car is worth, its sat on a brand new set of gaz gha's, vibratechnics engine mounts, dogbone mount, decatted with custom straight through exhaust, pure motor sports air con delete kit, interior is in very good...
All from memory.
Car - £2300
Belts/Dephaser/Oil/Plugs - £640
Vibratechnic mounts - £210
Powerflex dogbone bushes - £30
2x Hankook v12 - £170
Track Rod End - £10
Brake Compensator - £35
Brake Fluid - £20
Yozza Race Exhaust - £250
Sum total around £3665, not too shabby. Could get a lot more...
fitted the vibratechnics up gearbox mount everything finally went together nice but now i seem to have a very quiet wine when the clutch is engaged, doesnt seem to be causing a problem atm and I might of had it before but only noticing it now. Any help would be much appreciated
cheers
Great result well done!
Which part of the gearbox mount did you break the "stud" type part as I did the same going over the crest of "the Mountain" at Cadwell park..
Also which mount was it as I have some Vibratechnics ones to fit but not so sure now..
UPDATE
Not a big one though just to say I have ordered my exhaust mounts from prima racing hopefully they will solve the squeaking from the exhaust I Think I am going to order the vibratechnics engine mounts aswell come payday
Thought I would start a project thread as its Sunday and I am very bored, also I have started to do a few small mods to the car,
Firstly a few pics when I got the car (about 9 months ago):
List of things I have done so far:
Skoda splitter,
Polybushed dogbone engine mount,
Rear strut...
...dodo tyre wax and AG metal polish.
Here we go:
Spec:
Engine
Stone automotive RS2 carbon inlet manifold with all the gubbins
KTR vibratechnics engine mounts
Pipercross air filter
KTR coilpack mount
Group N timing(soon)
MWM remap (soon)
Denso iridium plugs and magenecore leads
Samco coolant...
Aye done my dogbone last month, I'll bear that in mind about the gbox mount and keep an eye on it :)
Yeah theres some more vibration on idle but once moving its fine.
can't wait to get paid tomorrow, fill it up and go for a play
I had both vibratechnics + powerflex dogbone fitted on my old ph1, definately one of my favourite mods!
Worth noting though, I fitted a new standard gearbox mount at the same time, 6 months later it was dead. Definetly get them all done IMO.
...have the adjuster upgrade (Back 23rd march)
-Orbisound 2.5 exhuast system with integrated sports catalyst and custom mountings etc
-KTR Vibratechnics Engine mountings
-Brand new anthracite 2118's with new PE2's all round.
-TRS 3 inch 4point harness in red
-Pure Motorsport top mounts & strut...
I have the vibratechnics mounts on my Cup and my engine hardly moves at all, real nice feel inside aswell, feels like a proper track/race car. It would stop alot of movement that you may be getting.
...1*2 vs. 197, we've got an R27, and my old boss had a 172, which I've driven in both stock forms, and fully polybushed/KTR top mounts, vibratechnics mounts etc, and even as stock the 172 was more buzzy, sharper, and in short doses probably more fun, however, for a true multi purpose car, the...
...got a new set of spark plugs stuck in too as mine were badly eroded. Runs like a dream now well happy with it.
Broken Idler
Next job will be replacing upper engine mount with a Vibratechnics one as we found out mine doesn't do a lot currently haha. And then new discs and pads all round.
