Yea.. clio 16v are getting raaare in Croatia, very rare.. almost none on the streets anymore..
I dreamed about clio 16v for years after my brother bought one and drove me in it.. the intake sound, the interior, the exterior.. its nuts.. in my opinion better than 1x2, regarding the experience...
If this car could talk, I bet it would have quite a story to tell...
What puzzled me was that the car is grey, yet the engine bay and the entire interior are pearl white... I didn't get any answers from the owner, nor any photos of the car from the past, and I kept thinking it was a shame—I’d...
Here goes nothing :ROFLMAO:
It’s been sitting in a forest in pretty much the same spot for seven years, and for the last three, I’ve been trying to convince the guy to sell it to me...
Well, today was the day.
So, here it is in all its glory: a 1991 Clio 1.8 16v (Phase 1 Diac), cat-less...
I'm satisfied with how everything turned out, considering that it's my first time painting with a paint gun after many years.
I will have to repair the ARB because it is specific for "hanging" for painting, so one part remained unpainted.
Since I'm not in a hurry, things will be done as they...
A view of the sill from the rear wheel side, inside the wheel well... I'm surprised no metal had been welded here; it was just slathered with underseal.
Driver's side... I think this little rust spot was caused by a piece of metal hitting it and starting the corrosion...
After the wash, I checked the passenger side sill panel to see how badly it was bent and what needed to be done... The area by the front wheel was bent—classic damage—but what really surprised me was the area by the rear wheel; it was twisted in a way that makes me wonder how anyone could even...
*dusting off this thread, long post warning*
Phew, a lot has happened in the year since my last post, but nothing regarding the Clio itself 🤣
It was patiently waiting for its moment, and that moment finally arrived...
I don't have a photo, but the poor thing had gotten buried under all sorts...
Hi all
Would there be any point on doing gr.N timing with pipercams BP270 cams? as they are regrind cams..
https://www.pipercams.co.uk/product/r172bp270r
@NorthloopCup what's your advice mate?
Also what would be better, 197 cams on 7° or std cams with gr.n timing or bp270 with gr.n timing, on...
Thats normal.
If you can, get it to machine shop just to regrind the mating surface to prep it for new clutch, or the faster way, red scotchbrite.
Check your main seal, looks oily.
The plan is to take the whole engine apart and measure and inspect everything. I also have some 197 pistons, although I didn't intend to put them in this engine.. Maybe when the opportunity arises, that will come in too.. I don't think there will be an engine update anytime soon..
Cheers from...
Spark plug, 1 greasy because the vvt solenoid was leaking, the rest are as they are, I suspect water got in when washing the engine.
I need to check the timing when I get the right cam tool, but to my eye the engine looks out of phase.
There is no shortage of silicone on the cam...
Sill was full of imperfections, but nothing that couldn't be leveled with 2 hammers.
What did I say I was just going to replace the rod bearings?
mhm.. well since im here...
The engine installation will need to be inspected in detail and I've already seen some things that need to be...
How does the saying go, while I'm here, might as well do this..
Hmmm..
Took off the fenders and sills to see what was hiding under the fenders, thank God it was nothing serious except for the bent sill from the jack, a typical clio 2 flaw.
Fenders have accumulated dirt, so it is...
Well now.. my knowledge and experience with engines is quite limited, so I called the guy who built this engine and he helped me alot!
anyways, compared to my previous clio, where they looked like new at around 140k km on clock, these looked quite questionable, and then I removed the bearings...
And I almost painted that day, but it was windy and got a call that the gearbox was ready so I got to make a trip of ccy 340km to get the gearbox (it was Monday). Everything was prepared but not painted.
Since track day was on Thursday, and nothing was painted on Tuesday, I decided that I would...
It continued as it started, optimistically and bravely, one might say optimistic.. 🤣
The gearbox was taken for repair, all the seals and the bushing on the selector and 2 bearings were replaced.. the 1st and 2nd speed fork was worn out and had no plastic on the ends of the "hand".. the pictures...
C/P from Croatian renault forum;
"Half the job done
Removed the front bumper, subframe, gearbox..
The arch liners were mostly screwed on with self-tapping screws 🥲. They are not the original liners, some thin plastic that I have never seen before, but bent like an OEM liner.. strange
Drained...
Small update but the one I've been waiting for ages!
The car has been in this state for last 5 months cca..
Dont know about UK, but in europe we have a shop named 'intercars' and it has Polish roots, and basically you give them your old rear beam ( rear beams that have torsion bars...
