Started work on the car this weekend, interior was seriously grubby and spent a total of 8 hours on it, jobs done:
Wet and dryed all carpets
De-bobbled alcantara and deep cleaned
Cleaned and conditioned leather
Deep cleaned all interior plastics
Seat belts scrubbed
Replaced silver trim strips...
Decided to sell my Saab 9-3 V6 as it was very heavy on fuel and just not much fun to drive.
Having an M135i as a daily and a Westfield V8 for out and out performance I had decided I wanted something smaller, lighter and fun to drive without being anything silly.
Was offered a straight swap on...
All resolved, replacement steering angle sensor turned up this morning, needed a bit of resetting to be recognised by the RS Tuner but for the first time since I have had the car there are no warning lights - dashboard looks quite dull now -)
Exactly the same issue I had, replaced plugs, coil pack and leads and better than it was before - the plugs were disgusting, bought new plugs but a used coil pack and ht leads
Airbag light off - RS Tuner was showing up as front right seat, cleaning the grey connector did not help, thought I would do the same with connector under passenger seat and all sorted - just the steering angle sensor and a sports cat to be sorted then it will hopefully get through MOT next week
Reset the steering angle sensor to midway point on yellow and still throwing up code so ordered a replacement as its obviously not working
Pre-tensioner -I'll have a go and disconnecting and cleaning / re-connecting the wiring - I hate modern cars
Can someone decipher the fault codes in red below for me, ambers have now been cleared
Car was bought with aftermarket steering wheel and now been put back to standard
Thanks
Involves a bit of careful measuring and trimming but not exactly difficult
Have used Jack at Royal twice before so was an easy choice for me - at £125 he is also very good value
Got my Royal Steering Wheel re-trimmed wheel back on this weekend, as ever by Jack a lovely job at a very reasonable price
Yellow rev counter mod - I like it and thats all that matters
As I had a Fabia splitter to fit I decided to do a proper job and take off the front bumper, good...
More progress today, wanted a light dut day after re-fitting the interior last weekend:
Cleaned the seats and gave the leather a deep clean - fortunately not too worn at all so come up very well
Fitted Silvertec front and rear indicator bulbs and LED sidelights
Fitted new bootlight complete...
No paint on the inlets at all, all de-burring and lots of polishing, not perfect but looks 100 times better than factory
Expansion tank is on the Feb to-do list
Done some tidying up of the engine in the last few days
The plastic engine cover was always looking ripe for injecting a personal touch but really wanted to do something with the inlets - really disliked the factory finish
Took a lot of work with sandpaper, wet and dry and metal polish to get...
Did some more work on my engine bay, lacquered the painted engine cover, some polishing of the inlets and painted the plenum - should be looking presentable by the weekend
Have just spent an hour outside on it and it appears as if my ears were letting me down - standard diff and its not making any noise, the Milltek combined with no rear interior is obviously transmitting noise / vibration that gives impression of a grumbling diff, zero diff noise at all - amazing...
The belts are in addition to the normal seatbelts and I have no intention of using them, will be removed at the weekend
Re: the diff, I have had Quaifes retrofitted into some of my other cars and am familiar with the characteristics, this feels very much the same - then again I could be...
"Really bad mods" - maybe not o your liking, or mine for that matter. Do things not to my taste constitute "really bad" - far from it.
We actually agree
Front and rear strut braces are staying, not as if they are going to reduce rigidity are they, belts are going, towing eye was a 20 second job to unscrew, steering wheel going once original is re-trimmed. Stickers may stay or may go - after all its my car
I have been lucky enough to own some great cars in my time and have in the last 7 years owned what have been regarded as amongst the best VW Corrado, BMW E36 328 Sport coupe and Alfa GTV V6's in the country
I like to buy cars that present a good solid base but with clear scope to make my own...
Deal done on this
Collecting next Tuesday evening but will be driving it home and then leaving it for 3 days whilst I go to Belgium - frustrating is not the word
It was on eBay, looks like its had a decent chunk of money spent on it this year, front / rear OMP braces, Clio Cup steering wheel...
