My dad was telling me that back in the day when you got nitromors on your hand it would burn like hell. I used some screwfix stuff and it look 3 to 4 applications and a pressure washer to get about half the paint off. The rest I had to use a flapwheel!

Definitely mate. For the sake of £50 it's not worth it. I've probably put about 15 hours into these wheels. Getting the paint off was the hardest thing. Seems like all the paint strippers on the market are pants! Not strong enough!

Anyone wondering how they came out I'd say pretty good! Would I recommend a DIY refurb to anyone- hell no. It's a false economy- the money you save is negligible. Having said that it's a rewarding process.
I bought some eBay rim protectors to prevent my hard work being ruined. 182 alloys have a...
Thanks bud. Yeah I've just let the lacquer cure for a few days and I've just hit it with some wax (haven't got any sealant). Hopefully that should do the job for a while and stop the brake dust eating away at the finish [emoji106]

Apart from that maybe look for 172 rear bumper. You'd have to have it painted though but does make the rear look better

Hi mate, I'd say colour coding is always a good option. Doesn't cost much- you can do it yourself. Get the paint made up from Halfords or auto-paint in St. Helens. You could also spray your side bullets in silver/black etc to give it a sport look. Pretty sure there's a guide on here in the...
Anyone done this before?
Was driving on the motorway in poor conditions and realised how bad the standard halogen headlights are compared to the xenons even with good bulbs (Phillips Xtreme vision). Can you straight swap 182 xenons into a non-sport with standard headlights? Sorry if this has...
Looks like my last message got cut short- sorry about that. Agree with you. I DIY refurbed my current set a couple of years of ago and came up decent. Any ideas on an OEM silver?
It's a tough one. Do it at home or take it to a shop. In my area prices are minimum £40 a wheel which adds up pretty quick. A home refurb is half the price. Maybe if it was a 2ltr I'd get them powder coated. I referred my current alloys in anthracite and was happy with the finish but with...

They look solid. I've refurbed before but my prep wasn't perfect. I've got plenty of time on my hands to do this properly now though. Thanks for the advice lads.
Hi guys,
I want to respray my 182 alloys in an more OEM silver as I'm sick of anthracite and miss the 'freshness' of silver. Anyone got any experience on this or care to share their opinion?
Cheers,
Fred
So I think I'm pretty much done with the Clio now.
It went in for a service and had quite a few things done- just general wear and tear such as air filter plugs, oil filter, pollen filter etc. Also had a broken anti-roll bar linkage fixed that was making a bit of a racket.
Had some seriously...
Thanks man. I actually sprayed the entire bullet silver using a similar method as mentioned before and then got a really thin brush and carefully painted the blue over the 16V. It takes patience which is why mine looks so terrible close up lol. I'd just get some black paint and go over the 16V...
Gave the car a clean last week and then a once over with Simoniz Quickshine Detailer. Glad to see a week on the car is still beading. Not very uniformly but beading nonetheless.
Forgot to mention I also restored the headlights on the Clio using my dad's Bosch drill :D, different grits of sand paper, some rubbing compound and a drill polisher attachment. They came up really nice as you can see from the previous photos of the diadems. IMO, hazy headlights can really wreck...
Hi mate,
What I did was sand down the plastics with 240 grit to start with and gradually increase the grit as I went along. I wet sanded with 240 to 600 to 800 to 1200 to 2000 to 2500 to 3000 but to be honest I think going up to 1200 will do the job. I just wanted to make sure the plastic was...
Some Osram Diadems that I ordered arrived in the post since the orange coating on my front indicator bulbs had started to peel. A nice subtle change and in my opinion they look great against any blue paintwork!
Here's a before and after:

I had some paint made up (F47) by my local paint shop LE WENT to see if there was any difference between it and the Halfords stuff. The guy at LE WENT had a BG FF 182 so I got talking to him a bit he was a nice enough chap. He matched the shade to my car with a small booklet filled with all the...
I've finished colour coding the front bumper trim on the Clio and it makes such a difference to the front end!
Paint was matched by Halfords. Not a bad job.
I also blacked out the fog light surround on the car using Plasti Dip. My clio being the poverty spec Expression doesn't have fog...
Haven't updated this for ages so here we go!
Sourced a 172 Cup rear bumper (with an exhaust cut out) - I'm going to be filling it so will update my progress on here.
Also sourced a Cup Spoiler
Both were from @Chapppers11 Thanks buddy.
Colour coded my mirror caps using Halfords paint
