Hi hipwell thanks for that that is what I am looking to ascertain really. Bit concerned it was specialist and a mobile mechanic does a poor job fitting the belt and it is noisy or snaps. Don't have any breakdown cover currently so don't really want to chance trying to make it anywhere too far...

The stop light and battery light are coming on when the car is idling and other electrical sources are in use. Goes away once you pull away etc. If you leave the fan off then doesnt seem to come on just occasionally flickers. Only noticed it on Sunday havent drove it since.

Near Leigh on Sea in Essex so SS7. So Engine Dynamics or Mark Fish in Harlow etc are all not that local to me. Alternator has only started showing signs of going but not sure I would make it. Not used the car in a couple of days now. Can anyone recommend anyone very local to SS7?

All belts, tensioners and water pump were done in September 2012. Car has covered 17000 miles since then.

As per previous post fairly sure alternator is on the way out. Options are limited on taking the car to a Renault specialist as will likely breakdown enroute. So going to have to use a mobile mechanic. Can you just replace the alternator alone? Or do you have to do the aux belt and tensioner...

OK yes noticed my washer jet was a bit weak the other day too so suspecting the same. Also noticed slight dim of dash lights etc when using additional electrical sources - radio, fan etc. Where did you get your alternator out of interest? How much was the part and labour? Thanks.

Hi guys today I noticed the red Stop and Battery warning lights lighting up whenever I was idling. On the move they went out. This happened repeatedly. Without the fans on it seemed to not happen just a slight flicker. But fans back on it did it again. So suspecting the alternator is on the way...

Hi all has anyone bought any rubber thumb grips that were a good fit and are holding up well? If so who from specifically? Seen some on eBay but unsure if they are going to be any good. Don't really want to spend out on a wheel retrim. The rest of the wheel isnt too bad. Thanks

I was leaning towards leaving it till mid next year at least. Its a low mileage example for the year too. I live in Essex but if it was going to save an appreciable amount of money I would drive to Portsmouth and enjoy a day out.
