So I did a thing, well a few things tbh.
As the discs were showing wear I opted to get myself some directional Alpine/Renaultsport bi material discs. They can sit there for a while, will prob slap them on before the track day in March. I also decided to try some new wheels. Id been playing...
I think its a failure on the pcb itself, the gears are very robust, and don't have any resistance. Also the gears that do the shifting in the box have very little too when you move them by hand. I think there maybe multiple failure modes, the capacitor swap didn't work for me but has for others...
Got some new pressed ali plates for the 8, the old ones were a bit faded and battered. New ones are thinner and flimsier than the originals but they will do (y) Need some brighter/warmer morning so I can use it for the commute.
In other news ive had notification of postage of the custom gaz...
The daily driver keeps on plodding, just realised id have owned it 3 years this year (come July so still half a year off), and for me, that's a very long time.
Decided to get the wheel off and check over the suspension. Have had an occasional, very slight sound of a failed top mount bearing...
After seeing the real Gordini measurements for the stripes I got annoyed with my work. Its now redone to spec (y) also received my springs and ball joints from meca parts France, so now just waiting on the shocks. On a side note I cancelled my order for over fenders and am now trying to order...
Went to take the car out to caffeine and machine today, and it let me down..... my fault it seems. One of the wires snapped off from the crank sensor plug, my poor workmanship in the past coming back to haunt me . Luckily the wife was driving the support Clio with the kids in, I had the laptop...
defo, going to ring around and see what i need to save up for a custom cage in there, if its still a little pricey there is an off the shelf OMP available
Been putting some limiter bashing miles on the car over the last few days. Been a blast, the car gets loads of love from others on the road and I think it actually shocks them (plus me and the wife) at how well it gets up and goes! once it gets on cam It'll shoot up and clip the limiter in 3rd...
Decided with some spare time to give the rear of the car some light prep/treatment. Gave it a clean and then inspected the area. Found 2 small holes by the wing tops which I will address in the future. Hit any rust with a wire wheel and then coated it with Fertan. Gave it 48 hrs dry time then...
Managed to get out of shopping but only for a few hours.... in the morning I tacked the 36-1 trigger to the bottom pulley, this allows me to keep the timing wheel fixed and not have to adjust it every time I remove it. Whipped everything off and gave it a clean. Used the "shopping" time to allow...
been messing about like a child trying to get it poping flames with launch control.... it hasnt worked yet
in other notes, there is a decent oil leak from the timing cover end (can see it on the back box in the vid), got myself a cork gasket and seal set so may tackle that over the crimbo...
pretty sure twingo mk2/base clio mk2 items will fit too (same 259mm discs)

Yeah the Twingo had the old welly on, was awesome on that. I went with the Forge item for direct fit and what not. I mean its not bad as such, I just think it could be a lot better. Probably a decent upgrade for a stock/stock mapped car, the oem intercooler is shocking on that. Probably asking...
Was actually checking some old track day vids, 15 ambient was seeing 40s on pulls! Thats only on what I could see, imagine it being alot worse on 20+ days. Recovery was still decent though. On the road I dont think its an issue. Not a bad shout on a welly tbf
Still tinkering, giving the car a go with the recirc removed, same as I do with all the turbo motors. Gives them that "dose" sound normally. Hasn't thrown a wobbly on the dash yet but if it does I'm sure I could just code it out. Sounds pretty cool.
Still want to look the boost pipework, I...
This is a pretty big update (in my eyes) for Clio 4 RS aftermarket support. Ive posted this chaps youtube stuff previously, along with his properly in depth info on hpfp and injector flow rates (why the clio 4 rs hpfp taps out at around 300bhp) hes been working on motec/renault stuff and now he...
Had a little time in the garage today, decided to take a look at what failed in the gearbox. 24hr support from Steve Swan (thanks again (y))
Cage in the end bearing seems to have failed and locked up. The end bearing is very stiff on the shaft and has spun slightly in the housing. Hopefully the...
Seems to be 1-2 degrees cooler on general driving (4/5 above ambient instead of 5/6). On boost at speed its also a bit cooler than it was. What I did notice the most was it seemed to recover quicker than previously seen/noted.
That's about as technical as its going to get without proper pre and...
Its always a thought at the back of my mind. Id defo miss it though, great all round car. Not sure what id replace it with if I was to let it go. Only thing i could think of would be a proper kit car
I was bored and had a little time on my hands.
Something ive been wanting to knock up for a while was a heat shield to protect the big open filter I have. Had similar on my old Leon cupra R from badger 5 so knocked up a shield from aluminium. Mounted it on a cotton real rubber at the back to...
